Benghazi Suspect Arrested in Cairo
A suspect in the September attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi has been arrested in Egypt, NBC News reported Saturday.
Mohammed Abu Jamal Ahmed, who was freed from Egyptian prison after President Hosni Mubarak was overthrown, was detained in Cairo, sources told the network.
The attack on the consulate killed Chris Stephens, the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans.
NBC said Ahmed has been known to Egyptian intelligence officials for several years and had "active relations" with radical militant groups involved in Iraq and Afghanistan.
