Any benefits gained from studying evolution or creationism?

popped from corn or slithered out of the water and started breathing air instead of water.

yea, ones crazy and the other doesn't make sense

That's stupid. Everyone knows all creatures were "shimmered" into being by a wizard looking old white guy sprinkling magical "pixiefairy" dust on a pile of mud. At least I hope it was mud. It was mud, wasn't it? Oh, where did the mud come from?

well, according to liberls, when you mix solid stone, water and lighting, you get life.

you actually don't, but :eusa_shhh:

Is right wing "science", like magical creation, peer reviewed?

peer reviewed science claimed that 2 legged dinos walked upright and dragged their tails

Trex was a predator that could run ~ 60 mph
then he was a scavenger
then he could only walk

but hey, science is religion to leftist, no scientist shall every be told they are wrong!!

Prove it.

You can't.

Because the pointy headed idiot doesn't know the difference between speculation and "peer review".

Any benefits gained from studying evolution or creationism?

Depends on who or what you're trying to benefit.

Organized religion exists to benefit itself.

Scientific inquiry benefits humankind.

One should be taught in the various churches under the various gods, the other in schools of higher education.

Keep church and state separate.

No problems.

The Incas believed the Sun God touched an ear of corn and the first people popped into existence. Is that a viable theory? Will some see it as logical and reasonable as creationism with exactly the same amount of evidence? If not, why not?

You can go to many Universities and there are literally dozens of courses on evolution. The evolution of the lymphatic system. The evolution of organs. The list is endless. And the knowledge from those courses is actually used in medicine.

Misconceptions about evolution

So how is this "knowledge" useful? If both theories are equal, then why can't we get equally useful knowledge from both?

Sun God touching an ear of corn made more sense than a fish got caught in a tidal pool and grew gills, feet and found a meal and a mate, or the DNA of a perfectly functioning cell was hit by a gamma ray and it made it even better

Rational Christians have no problem with faith and science.

Irrational atheists and creationists rely on irrational philosophies both based on faith.

T. Rex's Posture: Is He A Stand-up Guy OR Did Barney Lie?

Scientists used to think T. rex stood tall, but they abandoned that idea decades ago. Now, the ferocious dinosaur is depicted in a bird-like posture, tail in the air and head pitched forward of its two massive legs.

I sent Two Thumbs' post on to several of my university friends who teach science. They will undoubtedly send it on to many of their peers. All will want to share Two Thumbs' wisdom.

God created heaven and earth in 6 days, and then he rested. As far as I can tell, he has been resting now for 13.8 billion years....

I wish we could reach a point in educating the ignorant where we wouldn't keep getting this false pitting of evolution vs. creationism. They are not competing ideas. It's not one or the other. Evolution does not even deal with origin. Creationism doesn't deal with change over time. Both could be equally true or equally false, partially true and/or partially false. The only thing that we have clear evidence for is evolving of certain species over time. This doesn't mean all life sprang forth as the result of evolution.

Anti-Christian zealots want to shut down Christianity, so they attack creation theory as irrational, claim there is no place for this in a classroom, and protest any argument for it at every opportunity.

We should NEVER limit what we teach people. This flies in the face of what education is. Children should be taught what we know about evolution theory. They should also be taught evolution theory is not a counter to creation theory. The opposing theory to creationism is abiogenesis. Both of these theories should also be taught. The fact that we do not KNOW how life originated, should also be taught.

Then maybe we wouldn't continue to have such profound ignorance abounding on the Internet.

What he said!

Besides, there's nothing wrong with teaching 'about' religion. Ignoring it is an insult to the impact that it's had on all mankind.

ex;

We all know about the 300 Spartans and that the reason only 300 went was b/c of religion.

Most of you learned that from the movie or seeing some follow up on the History channel.

I learned about it in school, Catholic school that is.

So you are saying that as scientists gathered more data, they continued to learn?

Teaching creationism isn't even possible. There is nothing to teach beyond "God did it" and other primitive myths.

This is a complicated and highly technological age. Most students don't have time for zero value subjects. Teaching magical creation is zero value. There is nothing of substance that pertains to any other subject anywhere. It's completely without value. Not so with the science based theory of evolution.

No one is even going to try proving me wrong on this? If you believe it should be taught, what is the value? What are you getting out of magical creation?

you mentioned teaching evo wasn't useless.

Why is it important how t-rex walked?

hint; it's not

except it sells books and movies, like religion does.

I've read creation theory, or theory of intelligent design, and it is far more detailed than simply "god did it." There is nothing "magical" about it, in fact, it is "magical" to conclude all life sprang forth from a single cell organism. Evolution, as I've already pointed out, doesn't even deal with origin of life. It is regarding the changes of things that already existed. Even then, you can't just proclaim something "science based" and make it unassailable and empirical. To do this, abandons the scientific method completely, and becomes a faith based belief. So your own words and your own argument profess that you have adopted a faith-based belief and refuse to entertain science any further.

You're right, we don't have time for your faith-based whims. We shouldn't have to tolerate being hooted down by your ignorance and inability to comprehend spirituality. We should be intelligent and bright enough to understand that science doesn't provide all the answers and isn't always accurate on the ones it does provide. But some people are morons, they've adopted science as a faith to replace God. The rest of us have to deal with these morons, relentlessly insisting they are right and everyone else is wrong, and they know what is best to teach our children.
