Bullshit. The green tip was always more expensive than FMJ.
You recall I'm an FFL, right? I've had everything from ARs to Mini 14s to now a SIG 556xi. I've sold all that crap at one time or another.

As a consumer, Green Tip runs me about $.40 a round. I can pay $.90 or more per round for FMJ.

On February 16th I ordered 1500 rounds from LAX Ammunition. 1k of it was PMC green tip. It went for 250/500rds. The other 500 rounds was Independence XM193 and it cost 155/500rds. Now, this is already after ATF had announced their intent and LAX was probably the last place with the stuff in stock, so the price on the green tip was already up.
Still even before that I didnt see green tip going for any less than 55gr FMJ, usually more.
Honestly I dont see the big deal in it. I never felt like I was underarmed unless I had SS109. And it isnt as accurate as the fmj stuff.

I have no desire to shoot anyone - whether he be a cop or a thug, I don't care. I have killed enough human beings for 10 lifetimes. However, I live in the middle of nowhere. People have guns out here. It's a way of life. We also store ammo - nothing worse than being caught in a winter where you can't get out to go to town. We hunt for the majority of our meat. Regardless of how many "bans" the "elites" put on the people - most of us are already prepared and will suffer very little.

Who cares if he banned that certain type of ammo. If you actually read the law, it states that he banned the "steel tipped" ammo. Due to the fact that is armor piercing. Now that bothers me because it is obvious to why it is really banned, but all we have to do is manufacture non armor piercing rounds. It was not banned for control it was banned due to all the crap talk about a revolution. We bring these kinds of bills and laws on ourselves!

Indeed. I don't buy Green Tip for any reason other than target practice (at my age I don't see as well as I used to). When I head up into the mountains I don't carry anything less than a 30-06. Bears and Mountain Lions tend to laugh at ARs.....
