Another massacre by Assad

while I agree with you that the actions of syria's government against it's own people is deplorable, I don't blame it on Obama or anyone else except the ruling party in syria.

I am not a fan of our president, but I still have to believe he has access to information that I do not, and therefore is better situated to make the decision whether to send in the troops or not.

Russia 'still opposes Syria intervention'
9 June 2012 - Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov: ''Russia will not sanction the use of force''
Russia will continue to oppose attempts by the UN Security Council to sanction military intervention in Syria, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says. Mr Lavrov also repeated calls for an international conference to implement UN envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan. He said Moscow would support the departure of President Bashar al-Assad, but only if Syrians agreed to it. Meanwhile, the opposition Syrian National Council (SNC) has elected a Kurdish activist as its new president.

The exiled SNC, an umbrella group for opposition groups, elected Abdelbasset Sida at a meeting in Istanbul, a statement said. Mr Sida, who succeeds Burhan Ghalioun, told the BBC he planned to restructure the council and get all opposition groups to agree on a unified vision. As efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis continued, activists in Syria said more than 80 civilians had been killed by pro-government forces on Saturday. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said they included about 20 killed in the flashpoint southern town of Deraa. The figures cannot be independently verified.

'Dangerous game'

Speaking at foreign ministry in Moscow, Mr Lavrov said that the issue of foreign intervention in Syria was being posed in a "radical and quite emotional way". He said foreign powers were encouraging the armed opposition to hope that "the Libyan scenario" could be repeated. "All this is a dangerous game," he said. "Our position remains unchanged. We will not agree to the use of force being authorised in the UN Security Council. "That would lead to the gravest of consequences for the whole of the Middle East." He said the intervention of "external forces" could result in a "catastrophic scenario" that would create an "arc of instability" from the Mediterranean to the Gulf. Both Russia and China have opposed UN Security Council resolutions condemning the Syrian government for continuing violence.

Mr Lavrov acknowledged that Mr Annan's six-point peace plan had begun to "seriously falter" but said Russia saw "no alternative". He said that Moscow - which has resisted US-led calls for Mr Assad to stand down - was not opposed to his departure, but only against it being imposed on Syria from outside. "If the Syrians agree (to Mr Assad's departure) we will only be happy to support such a solution," Mr Lavrov said. "But we believe it is unacceptable to impose the conditions for such a dialogue from outside." He also pressed Moscow's idea of an international conference on Syria that would include Iran - an ally of Damascus. "To say that Iran doesn't have a place because it is already to blame for everything and it's part of the problem... this is thoughtless to say the least from the point of view of serious diplomacy," he said.

Then the empty suit should step up to the podium and state what those issue are, and why the leader of the free world should continue to sit on his hands while syrian animals are stabbing toddlers and iran continues to develop nuclear weapons unabated.

Russia: West Purposefully Sabotaging Peace in Syria
Also, German paper FAZ reports Houla was the work of rebels, not pro-Assad.

Ergo's comment:The Lies and manipulation of events by the spin-doctors out the Whitehouse, Foggy-Bottom and the U.S.'s toady at the U.N. with the assistance of a complicit lap dog media!

In his most recent statement, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov repeated that Russia opposes any attempt to intervene or level sanctions against Syria.Annan plan He also exposed the West’s role in purposefully perpetuating violence in order to sabotage peace efforts and create a pretense for NATO-enforced regime change. He warned, “the way the Syrian crisis is resolved will play an important role in the world tomorrow; whether the world will be based on the UN charter, or a place where might makes right.” This after US ambassador to the UN Susan Rice declared the West was prepared to “take actions outside of the Annan plan and the authority of this [UN security] council,” to implement regime change in Syria. [ This would be against international law and the U.S. constitution Rice! Shame on you and the rest of the lawless Obama Adminstration!]

Lavrov’s sentiments were echoed by China, Iran, and South America’s ALBA nations, whose collective populations equate to over 1.5 billion people.

Lavrov made his statements during a conference held yesterday, focusing on evidence contradicting the politically motivated coverage of Syria’s conflict by the Western media – the latest example of which was in fact the West’s coverage of Lavrov’s comments themselves. Western papers declared different variations of, “Russia supports departure of Assad,” in sensational headlines that purposefully took Lavrov’s statements out of context.Russia: We won't oppose Assad's departure - JPost - Middle East

West’s “Houla Impetus” Unraveling, Major German Paper Implicates Rebels, not Regime

Of course, the US’ pretext for making such bold statements has been the recent “Houla Massacre,” pinned on the Syrian government even before UN monitors arrived on the scene. Similarly, Western media has been reporting “activist” hearsay regarding a string of additional “massacres,” none of which have been confirmed in an attempt to generate general hysteria and support for a broader intervention.

In a recent development, Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) paper has reported that evidence indicates rebels, not pro-government militias, were responsible for the violence at Houla, and that many of the victims were in fact supporters of the Syrian government. Covered by John Rosenthal in the National Review Online, his article warns of “rebel atrocities being repackaged in both Arab and Western media accounts as regime atrocities.”

U.S. And Israel Enlist Jihadist Terrorists To Bring Down Syria

In Syria, the U.S. and Israel are sponsoring Jihadist terrorists to destroy the unity of Syria and bring down the current Syrian government. As a result, the moral and intellectual arguments for the U.S.-led war on terror are being exposed as propaganda talking points that have no logical connections to the real world.

The U.S. and Israeli governments cannot be taken seriously when they try to sell to the world the lie that Islamic terrorism is a threat to Western civilization while it is secretly funding and arming Sunni terrorists to wage war against governments that they don’t like.

Funding and arming Sunni terrorists:Land Destroyer: Extremists Ravaging Syria Created by US in 2007

We don’t have to point to the false flag 9/11 events as an example of state-sponsored terrorism by the U.S. and Israeli governments. There is endless evidence in Syria that points to a coordinated policy of state-sponsored terrorism against the Syrian people by Washington and Tel Aviv.

Washington’s alliance with Jihadist terrorists is coming out into the daylight in Syria, Libya, and other nations that have experienced the CIA’s “Arab Spring.” Rob Prince wrote an excellent article on June 3rd about this unholy alliance called, “Tunisia’s Salafists: Brownshirts of the Arab Spring.” Prince said:

“The British and the U.S. prefer the more placid and ‘west-oriented’ face of ‘moderate Islamic parties’ like Tunisia’s Ennahda which claims to respect democratic processes. But when necessary, London and Washington have not hesitated to cooperate with more fanatical elements — be they Saudi Wahhabists or now Syrian jihadists. Besides the anti-Arab secular nationalist bond that unites U.S. foreign policy with Islamists, there is a bond of another kind: they see eye to eye economically. The Moslem Brotherhoods in Egypt, Ennahda in Tunisia, and Salafists throughout the region are all comfortable with and support the kind of neoliberal economic policies the United States and Europe pursue. They have opposed trade union rights, strong state-directed economic policies. When it comes to neoliberal economics, openness to foreign corporate and financial penetration, the Islamists and U.S. policymakers are in complete harmony.”

The U.S.-Israeli-Jihadist war against Syria has produced a humanitarian crisis that the Western media is deliberately and criminally misrepresentingto the world. It is now clear beyond any shadow of a doubt that the guilty party in the Houla massacre was the foreign-armed Syrian opposition.

US: Russia sending Syria attack helicopters
June 12, 2012 WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration said Tuesday that Russia is sending attack helicopters to Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime and warned that the Arab country's 15-month conflict could become even deadlier.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the U.S. was "concerned about the latest information we have that there are attack helicopters on the way from Russia to Syria." She said the shipment "will escalate the conflict quite dramatically." Clinton's comments at a public appearance with Israeli President Shimon Peres augured poorly for a peaceful solution to Syria's conflict. Officials from around the world are warning that the violence risks becoming an all-out civil war, with Middle East power brokers from Iran to Turkey possibly being drawn into the fighting.

Diplomatic hopes have rested on Washington and Moscow agreeing on a transition plan that would end the four-decade Assad regime. But Moscow has consistently rejected the use of outside forces to end the conflict or any international plan to force regime change in Damascus. Despite withering criticism from the West, it insists that any arms it supplies to Syria are not being used to quell anti-government dissent. With diplomacy at a standstill, the reported shipment of helicopters suggests a dangerous new turn for Syria after more than a year of harsh government crackdowns on mainly peaceful protests and the emergence of an increasingly organized armed insurgency.

There was no immediate reaction from the Russian Foreign Ministry. Russia and Syria have a longstanding military relationship and Syria hosts Russia's only naval base on the Mediterranean Sea. But in light of the brutal violence, the U.S. has repeatedly demanded that any further deliveries of weaponry be halted. Russian military support in the form of materiel as advanced as attack helicopters would deal a serious blow to efforts to starve the Syrian army of supplies. Some 13,000 people have died, according to opposition groups, but the U.S. and its allies have been hoping that sanctions on Assad's government and its increased isolation would make it increasingly difficult to carry out military campaigns. Attack helicopters are heavily armored and can carry machine guns, rockets, missiles or other weapons capable of firing at ground targets.

Asked why the Pentagon isn't blocking Russian weapons shipments to Syria, Defense Department officials noted that the administration hasn't declared an arms embargo. Navy Capt. John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, accepted the argument that Moscow's resupplying of helicopters enables the regime to kill its own people, but said the key issue is how the Syrians use the materiel. "Let's not let the Assad regime off the hook here," he told reporters. "The focus really needs to be more on what the Assad regime is doing to its own people, than the cabinets and the closets to which they turn to pull stuff out. It's really about what they're doing with what they've got in their hands."

War with Russia and China over Syria. Sounds good to me! :uhoh3:

You want war with China and Russia with the great possibility of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons being used that will result in the death of thousands if not millions of lives? Also, a result of a major war would throw the already weak U.S. and European economies into economic calamity This isn't a sporting event that you can watch from the comfort of your home nor is it a video game you lunatic!

War with Russia and China over Syria. Sounds good to me! :uhoh3:

Those 2 hellholes aren't going to go to war with their top customers over anyone.

Without Europe, Russia has no gas/oil customers, and without the US, China has no export market for its ipads and other goods, so they can chirp all they want - but the US/EU/UN can march into Damascus today, shoot ass-ad in the head, install Donald Duck as president, and neither nation will care one whit.

They are simply using syria - and its civilian fodder - as a stick to put in the eye of the US/EU, as well as for domestic right-wing consumption.
