Andrew Yang Qualifies for 3rd Dem Debate: How Does this Businessman Poll Ahead of Booker & Beto?

President Yang?????? not a chance....:21:

Very true, far too many racist and xenophobes in the country for that to happen,.
I dunno, Obama getting elected is definitely up their with Neil Armstrong for me. I mean, overall the moon shot program was wasteful and a cold war pissing match, and I didn't like all of Obama's policies - although W and the gop set the bar low LOL - but American society is showing signs of growth imo

New York senator Kirsten Gillibrand dropped out of the Democratic presidential race yesterday evening after failing to qualify for the third round of primary debates, slated for September 12. Tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang, meanwhile, will be one of ten Democrats on stage in Houston next month.

To qualify for the debate, candidates had to hit 2 percent in at least four public-opinion polls and secure 130,000 unique donors. Among the others not to reach the threshold for September were Colorado senator Michael Bennet, Hawaii representative Tulsi Gabbard, and Montana governor Steve Bullock.

While Yang managed to snag a spot in the lineup, his fellow non-politician Marianne Williamson failed to do so. As of Wednesday, the author and self-help guru still needed to reach 2 percent in three more polls in order to qualify. She already met the donor requirement.

Yang’s star has slowly been rising throughout the primary, going from little support to speak of in April to hovering around 3 percent in most polls this month. Though he had a rocky first debate, he was widely considered to have done well in the second round, standing out from the seasoned politicians on stage with his focus on policy solutions, specifically his universal-basic-income proposal.

His bid is still a long shot, of course, but it’s notable that he has been able to gain enough traction to consistently poll ahead of politicians like New Jersey senator Cory Booker and former congressman Beto O’Rourke — along with making the third debate ahead of sitting Democratic politicians. Perhaps his steady success is a sign that his no-nonsense approach is appealing to Americans sick of politicians’ double-speak, as well as to Democratic voters looking for a somewhat moderate option in a sea of progressive candidates.

As of now, and absent any surprise polling in the next two weeks, Yang will be joined on stage in September by Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Cory Booker, Julián Castro, Amy Klobuchar, and Beto O’Rourke.

He is an actual self made billionaire that did not inherent is company from his father.

Hey Goofy, you really got a thing against successful families passing down their business in part or whole to heirs? So like what's your thing with the Royal Family of England then? And when Yang dies, should he just chuck his entire empire and wealth to public donations and liquidate it rather than pass it onto heirs?

I have nothing against successful families passing down their business, I just have more respect for those who earn it themselves instead of just getting lucky with who their parents were.

If you mean Trump, there was no luck involved. His dad was never in the Manhattan market, he was an apartment builder for low income in Queens. He was dead set against Trump going into what he did. Trump assured him he could crack the nut and he did. All his dad did was front him a loan to get him started. Could have come from a bank.

But not against Bernie who is much older and whiter?

He is already established and has a cult like following, Styer offered no reason to jump ship up him

The idea that if we just get Trump out of the way, that things are going to revert to some normal pattern, as biden seems to think, ignores so much of the wreckage that exists in D.C

“We [the Democrats] should never have lost to Donald Trump to begin with. We just manifestly should not have lost to him to begin with. But we did lose. And that is proof that we can lose again.” - beto
If only some person not age 70 was competent to run. The gop was much younger with Rubio Cruz Santorium and (ick) Paul

the dems did elect a youthful infusion in 18, and if Biden is the nominee, the vp candidate will probably be Abrams or Harris.

It is why he is in the polls at all. He was a known commodity and had a following. As time goes by some of those leave him for other candidates. Styer offered nothing different than Bernie so he did not attract any of his followers.

Which is likely why he supports the failed war efforts and the DNC makes sure he sticks around for the war machine funding.

He polls well for many of the same reasons people liked Trump, he does not talk like a politician and he has “walked the walk”.

Where are you getting Yang is a billionaire?

Yang is estimated to have of net worth of $1 million, according to Forbes,[26] or, according to Newsweek, between $3 million and $4 million.[27]

It was a mistake, I was confused. I have already said so.

Okay but confusing a million with a billion is a pretty big mistake.

There are so many Dems ruining they all get jumbled together.
