Why is it that a Pro life, Anti Gun Control, Anti illegal immigration, Anti gay marriage, pro balance budget Democrat is a moderate while a Pro life, Anti Gun Control, Anti illegal immigration, Anti gay marriage, pro balance budget Republican is an extremist?

What difference does it make? Neither the moderate, nor the extremist is likely to actually fight to end abortion, uphold marriage or balance the budget or do anything else other than worry about staying in power.

Because its a scare tactic used by the left. An extremist is someone who is willing to do anything to further his cause, like resorting to terrorism. So libs love to label conservatives as 'extremists' even though they are the furthest thing from it.
