Black Slaves, Indian Masters: Slavery, Emancipation, and Citizenship in the Native American South, by Barbara Krauthamer (2013)

Good point, more than a few Native American tribes sided with the Confederates.....bulldoze anything connected to it.

Historical Facts: ....

1) Many Indian's owned black slaves.

2) The largest slave owner west of the Mississippi river was an Indian who used them on his vast plantation.

3) The last Confederate general to surrender to Union forces was an Indian.

4) Negro's held as slaves in Indian territory weren't freed until 20 years after the Civil War ended because they were not considered American citizens by the U.S. government.
