    Hi everybody

I am from Germany and have to hold a presentation about American icons. It's a bit difficuilt to say what are typicall American Icons living in Germany. So I wanted to ask people from America what you think are typicall icons of your country. And what does the term icon mean for you?
Thanks a lot for every comment =)

    Most American icons are gone.
All across America towns and cities are more and more becoming "Anytown, USA"...they all look alike.
The houses look alike, they all have the same franchised restaurants, all have the same big-box retail stores.
    The same.
    The new American icons are:
    WalMart
American Eagle (Clothing Store) where not an item can be found that is made in America.
    WalMart
    WalMart Superstore
    WalMart
