Not the news, but...

An increasing number of major companies have left the US: Pfizer, Medtronic, Liberty Global, Chichita Brands, Eaton etc.

25 in al, counting since 2008 and 70 since the 1980s.

Walgreen, America's venerable drug-store chain, is thinking the unthinkable: relocating to Europe. Not because it sees growth and opportunity there, but because of onerous taxes here in the U.S. It's an ominous trend.

Corporate tax rates in the U.S. are the highest among the developed nations.

In short, being headquartered here is a major competitive disadvantage for American firms.

So, is problem just in president and his anti-corporate rhetoric hamstrungs business and job growth in the US greatly prolonging and weakening the economic recovery?

Problem is Americans are stupid. They want business to do well, yet at the same time expect them to provide them with jobs and taxes, then complain about high taxes and not enough jobs.

Business exists to make maximum profits. Not provide jobs or taxes. If relocating proves to be cheaper for them and greater profits, that's what they're going to do. Can't bitch about such things if all in favor of business, capitalism, and making obscene profits. It's the nature of capitalism - profits for us, no one cares what happens to you. If you enjoy capitalism and profits, you can't then whine about capitalism and maing profits by outsourcing jobs, relocating to lower-taxed countries, etc. That reveals only that the person speaking is either stupid or a hypocrite.

dear, I think the point is that having the highest corporate rate in the would is the one huge factor, over which we have complete control, that is driving our corporations, jobs, money, intellectual property off shore. Therefore, we should immediately eliminate the tax and replace it with a subsidy to instantly create million of new jobs.

We shouldn't let them move to avoid taxes. We, the US, grew and nurtured these companies with the most favorable and consistent support system of workers, universities, lenders, commercial legal system, culture, rights, privileges, infrastructure, enticements, etc.

If you want an Irish headquarters like Eaton and Medtronic, start your fucking company in Ireland. The US brought you to the dance and that has to be respected. And I have no problem being tougher on global corporations which treat their motherland like a whore.

If they leave, we should stop buying their crap. It's that easy. I'm sure that others will be happy to start up new companies right here to replace them and gain their domestic market.

It's not that easy. How are you going to stop buying Eaton which makes components across appliance, auto and aerospace sectors? They could easily have parts in every washing machine made.

others will be happy to start up new companies right here to replace them.
. Although I appreciate the sentiment it's hard to start up and compete with Medtronics. Shit, it's hard to start and finance a restaurant.

Simpleton, ever hear of the United Stated Constitution? Article 1 gives Congress the power to regulate commerce.

There is no concept of corporate freedom in the US, it's not codified, not in our history or culture and not in our founding documents.

Do you have the IQ to distinguish between Inalienable human rights and corporate regulation?

And where did Eaton or Medtronic say they were moving executive headquarters for wage savings? Did the CEO get a big pay cut for this move? Think, just try that first.

too stupid by100000%. Its not the power to take over business and run it like in communism, its the power to promote free trade among states and nations.

Welcome to your first lesson in American History

There is no concept of corporate freedom in the US,.

too stupid by 100%!!! Anytime one man or two men together were in business you in effect had a corporation. Our Founders had no intention of treating them differently and didn't!.

to stupid so you go into business a liberal govt person can make you a slave becuase you are no longer a human being??? 100% stupid!!

So why do some people bitch and moan about corporations leaving our shores to maximize profits, but allow illegals to come in and work at a far less rate than Americans so that corporations can maximize profits here? Is it NOT one and the same thing? Should we not demand that every ILLEGAL be terminated tomorrow, and an American be hired at what ever wage it costs that corporation to get Americans to do the work?

You can not have it both ways, either side of the issue. You can't say it is bad for corporations to leave, but it is good for illegals to take American jobs. Conversely, you can not say free trade is good, then say it is wonderful we lower the cost of doing business on our own soil by illegally hiring people.

If you force costs up to Americans by taking out the illegal factor on goods produced here on our soil, what you will discover is........that even the left will want to lower taxes and some regulations on business to stop the money from coming out of their pockets. That will then make them happy, because business in manufacturing sector will return. A win-win! And all you have to do is admit that corporations leaving, and the hiring of illegal aliens on our soil is virtually the same thing; ergo, on this issue, both sides, for very different reasons, can fight together!

So why do some people bitch and moan about corporations leaving our shores to maximize profits,

they really do it to please their customers not to maximize profits. If company A moves to China then his competitor can too. So prices go down but profits stay the same.
