Ambassadors protest at Israel's confiscation of West Bank shelters

It appears the funding for those shelters was quite thin.

If something like that appeared outside of my town in the US it would be torn down as a matter of course.

Israel is shooting itself in the foot again. Is this any way to treat your friends?

Eight ambassadors to Israel have written to the Israeli military accusing it of breaking international humanitarian law by confiscating shelters for Bedouins in the occupied West Bank that were paid for by European governments.

And why not when they were placed illegally and without planning pwermision. I wonder what the European nations would do if Israel paid for shelters to be built without planning applications for Basque separatists, Roma gypsys and Scots nationalists on land not owned by them ?

Anything built without a permit around here would be torn down in a flash, at the expense of the owner and there'd be a huge fine associated with the demolition order as well.

Maybe Israel should start building housing for Jews in the south of France? There must be some park land somewhere that no one is using.

Why should the Palestinians need to get permits from foreign assholes to build in Palestine?

Because the itinerant Arab Muslims you mistakenly refer to as palestinians ( a term invented in the late 60s by an Egyptian ) are very recent arrivals of Arab Muslim descent and who have no native or tribal connection to Judaea. The Judaic people are the native people and as we all know they are Jewish ;--)

Its very easy to point out that the itinerant Arab Muslim population of Israel migrated there in the early to mid 20th century

Unlike the Judaic population which has existed there for oh say since the early bronze age.

Because the land is not theirs under International laws, and they are illegal immigrants as proven many times. Now if the Jews were building settlements on the other side of the Jordan you may have a case, but on the west bank you are denying the Jews their rights AGAIN

Um. For the same reason anyone needs to get permits for building? Because you can't just build anywhere you want with no respect for the law. Area C is under Israeli control. So, even if you disagree with this (and that would be REALLY hard to do under international law) -- you still can't go on ignoring the law.

Interesting. What law is followed or enforced equally to all who want to build in area C.

What law determines the criteria to accept or reject an application for a building permit?

Thanks in advance.

The law that the Jews make as granted to them by the Palestinians in the Oslo accords.

The applicable under Jewish jurisprudence granted to them by the Palestinians in the Oslo accords

Don't mention it

Nice duck. That does not answer the questions.

You've been shown a link a hundred times.

Read up on the division of the Mandate between Israel and Jordan. It clearly states that the ONLY area given to Jordan ( roughly 75% of the total land area of the Mandate ) is EAST of the Jordan. EVERYTHING else is open to Israeli development ;--)

Of course it does, particularly since your questions are based on false assumptions.

Well, that takes us into some interesting territory. We've discussed it before. And the answer is that -- its complicated. It depends on the specific village or town we are speaking of. I agree that some policies of Israel are problematic (the most glaring, imo, is refusing to join some Palestinian communities to the existing water grid). But the actions of some Palestinians are also a problem. The reasons for these actions, rightly or wrongly, on both sides, are complicated.

However, that said, foreign nations have no right to interfere in the internal governance of Israel, and especially no right to flout Israeli and international law.
