Aldi pulls "racist" tshirts

Supermarket chain Aldi recalls 'racist' Australia Day shirt after social media outcry - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Holy limp wristed liberal backboneless sissies! What's it like being such a fucking pussy? Jeseus christ you leftist crybabies.

Holy fucking shit.

What fucking losers.

All explained in my "Australia Day" thread.

1. Australia wasn't Est in 1788 at all.
2. The Australian flag wasn't invented until 1901, nor was Australia.
3. 26 Jan was the day in 1788 when the convict ships arrived from Britain, the Union Jack was first raised at Sydney Cove, and the British penal colony was born.
"White Settlement" if you like.
So the T shirt is ...well not really inclusive of Indigenous Australia, among other things.

No.
But, the land mass they were living in for 40,000 years was much the same as the land mass of Australia today.
One could argue that Australia is 40,000 years old, and its owners until 26 Jan 1788 were the Aboriginal tribes occuping the said land mass on 26 Jan 1788.

26 Jan 1788...guns beat spears and clubs...the land mass had a new owner.
Up was hoisted the Union Jack, and Britain declared itself the new owner.

One could also argue that until federation in 1901 there was no [Commonwealth of] Australia, but just 6 British colonial states.

With the federal govt now recognising Aboriginal people as the "original owners of the land" at many official functions, with 'welcome to country' ceremonies at the beginning of them...then stating Australia was Est in 1788 is just plain non-inclusive IMO.

As far as ALDI and BIG W go...if you were the bosses of those companies would you really want a 'race war'/boycotts of your company over an "inappropriate" IMO T shirt?
They are still selling all the other Australia Day merchandise, they only pulled that particular shirt that many people objected to.

so why arent america est 1776 shirts racist? our libfags arent as crazy?

Nah...1776 was when America as it is now was born?...declared independence from Britain?...similar to Australia's federation in 1901.

T shirts stating that 'America Est 1492' could be seen as racist, more like inappropriate, as that wouldn't include the 25 million people already living in American when Columbus landed...Native Americans for example.
"European settlement".

So it's best to just have Red White and Blue on "America Day", without putting dates on things, including T shirts..

Sadly you look at a person sideways and you can be up on a charge of discrimination. Whilst some think the Aldi and Woolworth tee shirts were offensive (I don't) I found it more offensive the graffiti and remarks spray painted by allegedly those who feel that Australia was invaded. If Australia was invaded, so was America.
