AIDS group seeks LA vote on condoms in porn films | Reuters

Voters in Los Angeles, home to the U.S. porn industry, could soon be asked to decide whether condoms should be required in adult films to reduce sexually transmitted diseases.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation said on Monday it submitted far more than the required number of signatures on a petition for a public ballot that could go before voters in June 2012.

If the signatures are officially certified and a vote is held, Los Angeles residents would be asked whether adult film producers must require the use of condoms on porn sets as a condition for getting movie permits.

Could this mean the end of the money shot?

If "Gestappo" succeeds, US porn industry can "outsource" into a foreign country.
Question only is whether porn companies can find enough "workers" in the indigenous population like they do in America.

Could this mean the end of the money shot?
Probably. But the so-called "money shot" is a dispensable voyeuristic deviation while the use of condoms in porn would serve the valuable purpose of visual conditioning. There is no question that such a mandate would produce a significant reduction in AIDS (and other VD) infections.

I think it's a very good idea.

Au contraire. That is highly debatable and very much in question.

Um, noooo....

This is getting a little too nanny state. I want them to leave the entertainment industry alone as long as they're not doing anything illegal in their product.

So for girl girl stuff will they have to use saran wrap when going down on each other?

Will the 14" dildo need to have a condom on it?

These are important questions....

How, exactly? Do you have evidence (or personal experience - sorry, couldn't help it) that suggests that condoms aren't a sufficient defence against STDs in porn, and the protection they provide doesn't meet the 'strenuous' demands of the adult industry?

Condoms sure screw up the money shot - guy fumbling to get the thing off.

I try to avoid buying porn where condoms are shown on the cover.

Even if condoms are mandated - theres still plenty out there before the ban that has no condoms.
