The free market provides a solution to arbitrary store owner behavior. Yes he has the right to act like an $#@!, but people can take their business elsewhere. Waiting for Trump and James Woods to open accounts at a competing service and watch member numbers double overnight.

Short answer: this article says look at Mastedon and Micro.blog. Yes they have miniscule followings compared to Twitter right now but that can change very quickly. Once again the beauty of the free market. IT WORKS.

I don't use Twitter, and never have. No one should.

But if you are a public figure and you have to communicate with audience you need something like it, unless you own a newspaper.
