We have now lost 1493 US soldiers in Afghanistan, 47 so far this year. Say a prayer for the US "Darkhorse" 3rd Bat 5th Marines and their families. Fighting it out in Afghanistan and have lost 9 Marines in 4 days.
Is our plan working or not? This and Iraq costs us 2 Billion a week.

As terrible as I feel for the families and the solders who were killed, at least they signed up knowing they may face combat and potentially death.

The Afghan civilian casualties are skyrocketing as well, and those are total innocents caught in a crossfire they have no control over and never signed up for. Nine children out collecting firewood were just gunned down by US troops this week, adding to the death toll of more than 8,000 civilians killed by US military actions since the war began.

That's the real proof that the strategy is not working. Every killed civilian undermines any imaginable positive goal and results in another family or even community turned forever against the U.S. and the Karzai government they support.

Our plan was doomed to failure from the start, but it's more than high time we extricate ourselves and stop making things worse on a daily basis.

Here is the problem we have in Afgahnastan, it is the only problem we have, and only we can fix it. It's a will to win. We must decide what are goal is and then back up and let the military achieve it as quickly and decisively as possible. Politics is costing us time and money we don't have. Our military is the greatest in the world at killing people and breaking shit, that is all we train them to do. We didn't send them over there to police call a mountain range and we damn sure didn't train them to win hearts and minds. We the people need to back up and let them do their job, and give them everything they need to do it. We need to stop half assing this war and get it over with, there are other things we need to do now.

If it seams we don't have the will to win, thats fine to. I will expect them all home with in the next year, it took less time to get them there. The definition of "all" is exactly what it is...every firetrucking one of them. We don't leave around any trainers, advisors, or security anything. Amazing, that you would have to explain the definition of "all" isn't it?
