Administration Will Cut Border Patrol Deployed on U.S-Mexico Border

We need more boots on the ground Emma, nothing Less. No Excuses.
Seems to be a bit of overkill on the Southern border, however, considering what they are charged with guarding. One for every 10th of a mile? Good Lord. That's a freakin' human fence.
Your math is very misleading.

You have to figure in that the agents work shifts, days, nights, afternoons. So while one shift is working, the other two shifts are off duty.

Plus there is the couple of days off per week like any other job.

Then you have to factor in administrative personal, trainers, and other staff.
How dare you question my Mad Math Skillz???

Ok then smart-ass... give me a minute to cypher.

The issue I'm bringing up is that of security against those who want to harm us.

You don't think the millions of illegal aliens in this country aren't already harming us?
Harm may not be their intent, but is a result.

Now why did I know you were going to say that..

I'm more concerned with those whose INTENT is on harming us.

So, as long as somebody doesn't intend to harm you, but through their actions you know you can be harmed, you don't care?
Are you in favor of abolishing drunk driving laws, after all, drunk drivers don't intend to harm people.

Canadian / US border: 5,525 miles, 2212 agents. 737 agents per shift. (fuck them they don't get a day off in MY math) 1 agent for every ~7 1/2 miles.

Mexican / US border: 1,969 miles, 17105 agents. 5702 agents per shift (if the Canadian border guys don't get a day off, neither do these guys). 1 agent for every 0.35 mile.

So again, I must ask...

If I were a terrorist wanting to enter this country, which border would I attempt to cross?

I never said I didn't care. No matter how you slice it, the Southern border is saturated with border agents; our Northern border is wide open.

I wrecked my car. Damn pole jumped behind me as I was backing up.

Nave1960, what is the name of the terrorists you speak of? How many of them, whats their names?

Marxist Obama must destroy the country to further communism.

U.S. counterterrorism officials have authenticated a video by an al Qaeda recruiter threatening to smuggle a biological weapon into the United States via tunnels under the Mexico border, the latest sign of the terrorist group's determination to stage another mass-casualty attack on the U.S. homeland.

Last week’s arrest of a Bangladeshi immigrant trying to illegally enter the country has federal authorities concerned over the vulnerability of the U.S.-Mexico border to infiltration by terrorists.
Federal court records show Fakhrul Islam, age unknown, was arrested Dec. 4 with 13 other undocumented immigrants as they tried to pass through a wooded area east of Brownsville.

The records said a man later identified by Border Patrol agents as a member of the Mara Salvatruchas gang was traveling in the same group as Islam.

The Central American gang has alleged links to al-Qaida.

Thats just a few I'm sure there are many more if you care to just google it as I did. I fail to see where I mentioned that Obama was a communist in my post or are you basically saying he is? While it's no secret he has past associations with many socialist and communist groups I'm sure this is something that many wish to just go away when it fact it won't. However, my posting had no indication of Obama's leanings one way or the other, other than to imply that this is perhaps one more political decision that will have long term negative results in a number of them already made by this Administration.

Dont get me wrong, I make mistakes, I am on yourside on this one, I was a bit over zealous on my response to your post I quoted.

Obama is dangerous but not as dangerous as the idiots that drink the Kool Aid obama serves.

I am glad I challenged you, its always good to post more of the truth, as often as we can, as you did in response to me.

Sounds like you drive like my mother used to. ... I hope you're okay.
Thanks, I'm just pissed off lol.

I had a deer bound up out of a ditch and into the side of my car 21 years ago. Aside from that, this was my only accident... ever. 30+ years driving, not a bad record, I'd think.*

It wasn't really the pole I hit, either. There was a large metal box on the pole that I couldn't see over the back seat; that's what I hit. Ah well. I hope State Farm is forgiving.

*I realize now I've jinxed myself.

"(CNSNews.com) - Even though the Border Patrol now reports that almost 1,300 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border is not under effective control, and the Department of Justice says that vast stretches of the border are “easily breached,” and the Government Accountability Office has revealed that three persons “linked to terrorism” and 530 aliens from “special interest countries” were intercepted at Border Patrol checkpoints last year, the administration is nonetheless now planning to decrease the number of Border Patrol agents deployed on the U.S.-Mexico border."

Well it's not like the FBI has uncovered any terrorist plots or anything recently. What could possibly be the harm in decreasing security? Obama's lack of experience is a wonder to behold.

Since there ARE "vast stretches" of border that area "easily breached," I wonder how come terrorist wannabes would be foolish enough to try to enter AT A CHECKPOINT.

There was a summer fill-in show called 'Homeland Security' which was real-time video of border agents capturing illegals before the could enter illegally, some on those "vast stretches." But guess what, when they were interviewed, most of them said it was their second or third attempt. So what the hell...there is no way we can put an agent or two every five miles along either border. The only way to do it effectively is with unmanned drones.

Obama Is His Own Worst Enemy. Unbelievable.

Border Patrol Director of Media Relations Lloyd Easterling confirmed this week--as I first reported in my column yesterday--that his agency is planning for a net decrease of 384 agents on the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal 2010, which begins on October 1.

A Department of Homeland Security annual performance review updated by the Obama administration on May 7 said the Border Patrol “plans to move several hundred Agents from the Southwest Border to the Northern Border to meet the FY 2010 staffing requirements, with only a small increase in new agents for the Southwest Border in the same year.”

Easterling said on Tuesday that in fiscal 2009, 17,399 Border Patrol agents have been deployed on the U.S.-Mexico border. In fiscal year 2010, the Border Patrol plans to decrease that by 384 agents, leaving 17,015 deployed along the Mexican frontier. At the same time, the number of Border Patrol agents deployed on the U.S.-Canada border will be increased by 414, from a fiscal 2009 total of 1,798 agents to a fiscal 2010 total of 2,212.

The Border Patrol is responsible for securing a total of 8,607 miles of border, including the U.S.-Mexico border, the U.S.-Canada border from Washington state to Maine, and sectors of coastline in the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Each year, the Border Patrol sets a goal for “border miles under effective control (including certain coastal sectors).” “Effective control,” as defined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, means that when the Border Patrol detects an illegal border crosser in a particular area of the border the agency can be expected to succeed in apprehending that person.

WTF? Is this just one more example of misleading information? The proposed 2010 DHS budget says NOTHING about cutting agents unless this is a brand new change. To the contrary:

DHS: Secretary Napolitano Announces Fiscal Year 2010 Budget Request
Release Date: May 7, 2009
Excerpts:

Securing Our Borders—DHS is on the frontlines of preventing the smuggling of people, drugs, cash and weapons across our nation’s borders while facilitating international trade and travel. In March, the Department announced a new initiative to strengthen security on the Southwest border in order to disrupt the drug, cash and weapon smuggling that fuels cartel violence in Mexico. The budget request strengthens those efforts by adding technology, assets and manpower, including an additional five U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) cutters and two patrol planes, 44 Border Patrol agents, 65 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, 349 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, analysts and investigators, 68 pilots, and 20 marine personnel. It also includes $40 million for smart security on the Northern border to expand and integrate surveillance systems.

Smart and Tough Enforcement of Immigration Laws—DHS welcomes new legal immigrants, protects against dangerous people entering the country, and pursues tough, effective enforcement against those who violate the nation’s immigration laws. The FY 2010 proposed budget contains $112 million to strengthen employment eligibility verification systems; designates $139 million to expedite the application process for new legal immigrants; allows for 80 new ICE Secure Communities personnel to target and crack down on criminal aliens; and $144.9 million to support the implementation of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, which will both improve border security and facilitate trade and tourism.
