Abortion as a States Rights Issue

No, actually you speak from a personal side. The personal side acknowledges only that individual, it has no concern or understanding of other persons that are directly involved in the matter. The personal side has a right to choose, it chooses no, then forces its limited-range view on the parties actually involved, removing their right to choice.

Which is why Abortion should not be the pervue of the federal govt at all....in fact the constitution gives the fed NO AUTHORITY to make laws in this regards so under the 10th ammendment that is relegated to the states or the people.

REGARDLESS of its merits, this issue is killing the GOP among a large group of American women voters. Short of ignoring the issue, which is a moral imperative for many people, the only other way to approach it in a salable manner is to make it a States Rights issue.

This would allow the 60% majority who favor some restrictions on abortions to express their views within their states while allowing a plausible escape hatch for the other 40% who could travel to another state if necessary. (Contrary to popular propaganda, state laws do not extend across borders to other states.)

Huh?
So in other words - the Republicans are sure to pick up scores of female voters if they merely advocate the overturning of Roe v Wade.

Are you paying attention at all?

If you had a clear understanding of what anti abortion is all about, you righties would open clinics on every corner.

It's NOT about the precious little baby. If it were, social programs would not be under fire and school programs would not be getting cut.

No, it's about keeping women down. If she becomes pregnant, she's a hore. A bad, unchristian, satan-worshipping hoar. It doesn't matter about the babydaddy, boys will be boys, after all. Why else would the right have voted against a law preventing violence against women? Because sometimes a woman needs slapped around? Because if she's raped she won't get pregnant, therefore the pregnancy resulted from consentual sex and it's her fault that she didn't buy birth control? She is a slut, after all. And when she's forced to have the child, she will for at least the next 18 years bear the scarlet letter of her sluttiness, showing all of this great country how she brings down American values by not having been married and behaving like a good christian. She (and the child) should be denied all welfare, she should show personal responsibility and get a job or two or three and earn enough to support herself and her bastard child, but she needs to stay at home and raise the child as a good American christian.

That's what the anti-abortion laws are all about.

You nailed it exactly.

This is not a federal question or a state's "rights" question.

Its the very basic right of every human being to have ownership and control over their own body.

The right says they're in favor of personal responsibility and smaller government but they are LYING. What they want is lots and lots of laws to control every move we make. They SAY they're preaching "family values" but scratch the surface and you find they want anything but.

rw's - Mind your own business.

Get government out of our bedrooms for once and for all. (THAT is what we fought for in the 70s and there are plenty of people willing to fight for it again.)
