Oh, the 4th (Rainbow)Reicht isn't going to be happy about this one..Maddow of MSNBC is probably in the fetal position over it by now. She was the champion of this witch hunt. And there was such an effort to send a message: The Falling Governors Disease.. Get Immunized Today US Message Board - Political Discussion Forum
44 former AGs file brief supporting McDonnell appeal
Dozens of former state attorneys general from outside the commonwealth on Monday filed a legal brief supporting former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s appeal of his conviction on federal corruption charges....The argument is essentially the same — that the court’s “sweeping” definition of what constituted an “official act” in the case would “federalize the law of public corruption, empowering federal prosecutors to transform innocent political courtesies into fodder for criminal prosecutions.” 44 former AGs file brief supporting McDonnell appeal - Richmond.com Virginia Politics

July 2013...the beginning of setting the pyre..

Cue at 6:50 to see Maddow refer to McDonnell's "controversial policies" of her list of McDonnell's "horrible list" of grave infractions as a Governor of a state...She beat the drum the entire time and even rolled in the dead body when it McDonnell's sentencing was announced.

What happened just before this broadcast?...oh...this...March 2013..

McDonnell, a Republican, says he believes same-sex marriage decisions should be a state matter, and Virginia “enacted a constitutional amendment five or six years ago that did not permit same-sex marriage or civil unions,” he said...“That is the law in Virginia. It is the constitution of Virginia,” McDonnell said. In Virginia same-sex marriage is decided - WTOP

And May 2013...

RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell plans to announce a new campaign Friday that aims to adopt 1,000 Virginia children out of foster care, but equality groups around the state are calling foul on the new initiative, which comes one year after McDonnell signed legislation allowing adoption agencies to discriminate against gay parents. LGBT advocacy groups cry foul on Va. governor s adoption campaign LGBTQ Nation

Political hit?

Could the tide be turning back on the militant-litigious faction bringing down careers right and left like a burning man party?

“federalize the law of public corruption, empowering federal prosecutors to transform innocent political courtesies into fodder for criminal prosecutions.”

Why not prosecute?

What exactly are "innocent political courtesies?"

No public official should be permitted to accept any form of gift, gratuity, or offer of convenience from any constituent, potential beneficiary, or representative thereof. Any such acceptance should be regarded as a serious criminal offense and be subject to severe penalties. Any offer or attempted offer of such gifts of gratuities should be subject to criminal penalties.

In other words, no such thing as "innocent political courtesies." Just little bribes and big bribes.

Watch the video. I'd EXPECT a goveror to accept trivial gifts such as these. If we prosecuted any governor that had accepted likewise value in favors &/or gifts, there wouldn't be a sitting governor in the US left after the pyres were lit. Neither would there be The Playboy In Chief at his Executive Crib... Watch the video. SEE AND KNOW what Maddow used to start the fire.

Maddow laments that McDonnell only gets 2 years in prison.. Saying the prosecutor left the sentencing hearing with his face "twisted in anger". That prosecutor? Well not sure if the sentencing prosecutor was the same as the one Virginia's AG appointed to head up the investigation/prosecution (Micheal Herring) at the get go, but here'sa blip about that guy and a bit about how he views the world. He seems sharp, very well groomed, dapper dress, dialed into the issues of the day:

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Herring blasted state lawmakers who voted to reject openly-gay deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Tracy Thorne-Begland’s nomination to be a Richmond General District Court judge...

Was that the guy whose face was "twisted in anger" at McDonnell only receiving 2 years prison sentence?

Logic behind the AG's support, and probably why you should be on board too. How will we entice our best and brightest into public service when this is what they know they will be facing (remember, they're bright and can figure it out before). All that will be left in public offices are dull and dysfunctional narcissists. Actually, probably because of this very type of witch hunting, it is why we are already about 15/16ths of the way there...

“Public officials must now go about their days wondering whether a fundraising lunch at a downtown eatery or dinner reception at the local university might end up in the pages of an indictment,” the attorneys general argue. “And when they ask their legal advisers, ‘Does this violate the law?,’ too often the reply will be, ‘We really don’t know.’ ” 44 former AGs file brief supporting McDonnell appeal - Richmond.com Virginia Politics

The AGs have a good point. This appeal may not be of benefit to McDonnell so much as it will be for the United States political system, and by extrapolation, the integrity of the Union itself. (Dull narcissists don't care about anyone but themselves and as a result would gladly take bribes on the down low even from foreingers bent on destroying us)

The survey presumes much that is not in evidence or law.
The survey does echo the criminal cavalier conceits of those who know the law yet still personally perpetrate
VA18.2-111 "Embezzlement, Larceny" of things received by their office,
VA18.2-111 "Embezzlement, Larceny" of the law that is their office of trust to faithfully administer rather that adulterate the law wrongfully and
VA18.2-481(5) "Treason" by "Resisting the execution of the (true duly authorized) laws under the (mere) color of its (the true laws) authority"

Show me any Governor in the US who hasn't received a wristwatch, or a pack of dog vitamins or herbal cleansers as a trivial gratuity or perk of office.

You'd better get busy...you've got a LOT of witch hunting ahead of you...
