Don't harsh my zen, Jen!
How has the definition morphed so that now there is no such thing as a racist, unless it is your opposition, because Lord knows YOU aren't a racist! Amirite!?

I'm not getting it. Somebody explain why what has always been recognized as racism, suddenly is no such thing.

Sooooo, when I see people on this board talking all blacks this, and hispanics this, and obviously believing themselves superior by comparison? If it isn't racism, then what is it.

it is natural. people judge people on some level. skin color just happens to be a level

If only the multitudinous people on the left and in the left-leaning media who have played fast and loose with the term "racism" had kept that definition in mind over the past six years. So much grief could have been avoided.

Amelia, that's what I'm asking. Because the backlash has been that now there is no such thing as a racist, and etc, as seen in the OP. So if you could, I'd really appreciate some examples.

Examples of what? Of actual racists? Or the pandemic overuse of the word which has turned the label into a joke?

When you see that, it's probably racism. If it's really "all blacks this" and "hispanics this". If you're seeing "hispanics this" in statements such as "illegal immigrants this" ... then that's a different matter.

There are some clearly racist people posting on this forum.

Problems arise when people claim to see it where it's not happening, and when they broadbrush a huge chunk of America based on a few loudmouths. Not to mention when they deliberately twist or obscure facts to push the meme of the racist right.

Remember this case where MSNBC was so determined to paint a portrait of racists rising up in reaction to "a man of color in the presidency" that they edited out the race of a black man who was toting some impressive fire power at a healthcare rally taking place near where Obama was making a speech.

The white racist in his own words ;)

The pandemic overuse.

It's used almost every time someone says something negative about Obama.
We got called that every day when all the talk was about Zimmerman and Martin.
Any time we post something that's negative that has something to do with a black person, then we're racist. It's been over used by so many it really doesn't mean anything anymore, at least to us that get called that. We've gotten to expect it.

I posted one example before I read your response. That one symbolizes what has come out of MSNBC for the past six years. That reprehensible video did not exist in a vacuum.

Do you remember all the discussion of code words? Everyday language frequently used toward politicians was suddenly deemed to be racist when the politician in question was black. A rodeo clown wearing a political mask is racist when the politician is black -- the guy gets banned for life for wearing it. In 2008 when Republicans pointed out salient things about Obama which remain relevant to this day in explaining why he hasn't lived up to the press about him, the story wouldn't be about those facts which truly deserved wider dissemination -- instead there would be consultants brought in to pontificate on how Republicans who said these things were actually trying to subtly undermine Obama racially. How many times a day on this board does someone blame Republican opposition to the left on there being a black man in the White House?

In defense on that one - if nothing the man does is ever, ever right, and I mean Nothing, Ever. Then the apparent conclusion is the one you just alluded to.

The secondary conclusion is likely the actual conclusion which is that there is a Democrat in the White House.

Wow. Good grief.

Thanks for that reaction.

It has been very frustrating to those of us on the right who have been trying to express opposition in relatively good faith.

That kind of stuff has made some of us more cynical, sarcastic, edgy and otherwise negative than we would usually be.

You're confusing racism with bigotry.

It can't be confused if it's a synonym. Bigot and racist are synonyms.

Not really, racists are people that believe their race, ethnicity or tribe is superior to others, like White nationalists, Christian Identiy, nazis and zionists, while bigots just hate shit.
