Right coast, classified
80 years ago, on May 6, 1944, one month to the day before D-Day, Lt. Albert Lanker of the 31st Photo Reconnaissance Squadron flew his F-5 Lightning fast and low over a beach on the Normandy coast. His job was to photograph the beach obstructions for the planners of the invasion.

You’ll note the Germans diving for cover.
Also note the distance of the beach to the bluffs at low tide. Those obstacles are submerged at high tide so the decision was made to land at low tide to expose them.

they were soldiers,
maybe some of them Nazis,
but maybe none.

it is idiotic and racist and just wrong to think that all. Germans were Nazis.
