French President Emmanuel Macron said the question of sending Western troops to Ukraine would "legitimately" arise if Russia broke through Ukrainian front lines and Kyiv made such a request, in an interview with the Economist published Thursday.

Macron in the interview doubled down on his comments from earlier this year of not ruling out sending troops to Ukraine, which sent shockwaves through Europe and unsettled allies including Germany. Most of France's allies said at the time they would not send any forces.

"OH NO. NOT THE FRENCH!!!..... LOL" - Putin (probably)

Twelve troops and a baguette do not make a formidable force.....That and I don't think the Russians have any need for "just dropped once" HK 416s. ;)

You laugh. If they send in the French Foreign Legion, the same endlessly trained, endlessly loyal mercenary army that had been handling the terrorists in Africa, a place few militaries dared to tread; it will be Putins army who will realize that it is a far different chore fighting former IT managers who had a two week training session than it is to fight seasoned, often enthusiastic professional soldiers.

They would fall to Russia's "God of War" (artillery) the same as anyone else.

I heard such an opinion that Macron's verbal interventions is a result of the feeling of personal insult, when under his watch France is steadily losing the ground in Africa while Russia is gaining influence in former French colonies.

The Foreign Legion is a great thing. But its numbers are near 10 000 people. I think it is somewhat not enough to halt Russian dogshit army 'breaking through the frontline'.

Fighting ragtag terrorists in Africa is much different from fighting a large, well supplied army. The French haven't been able to do the latter for 200 years.

Umm, you do know of the exploits of the French army during WWI right? They were considered a better military than the British at this point save for the navy of course.

In the second world war it was an absolute absurd decision by Germany to not go through Belgium, but through what was deemed and impossible forested area which cut the French soldiers from each other that lead to their demise. Coupled with Frances refusal to even scout that impassable area because, well, it was deemed unpassable, they were flanked and completely caught by surprise. Even if they had faced the Germans head on, at the very least, it would have been a lengthy battle.

Thus the French were split, many of them saved by the Brits to fight another day. They did fight another day and managed the French Resistance.

Umm, the much larger French army was routed by the Prussian/German armies in 1870, 1915 and 1940. In both of the latter world wars, it had to be rescued by the British and American armies. Not a very impressive record.

The forest near Kiev belongs to a company from Sweden, it was all sold, even the one that will grow in 30 years.
People tried to riot, but the police scattered them all.
“We'll be independent, they said...”
There's not much time left for full realization.
Amen.

here's some very good feedback about CAESARs from Muscovite 🇸🇦 🇷🇺 pig - dogs. They have nothing like that. Translation below :

France needs to hurry up. Russia is about to break through the front line in eastern Ukraine.

Russia is trying to break through the front line in the east of Ukraine in three directions, Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesperson of the Khortytsia group of forces, said on May 2.

Ukraine has faced a worsening situation on the battlefield in recent weeks that has been compounded by delays in Western assistance. Russian forces have recently intensified offensive operations in the east of Ukraine following the capture of Avdiivka in February.

Heavy fighting is ongoing in the sections of the front line around Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Novopavlivka in Donetsk Oblast, Voloshyn said on air.

What he said is IF Russia were to advance on the Ukraine. I agree with that ,a line has to be drawn somewhere. The courts can decide the rest. Russia needs to stop bombing the Ukraine for defending it's territory. It has more of a right to exist than Russia does at this point. We should all just attack Russia and get it over with. We're going to have to do it sooner or later. One cannot let a beast roam freely.

Do you have an underground anti-nuclear shelter with several years worth of food supplies* If not, what are you babbling about, asshole?

I realize that's a possible outcome but I hope Russia is not that crazy. They're crazy but hopefully not fully insane.
