Cuba Banking System Collapses

IMO, it is worth stating that the financial situation in Cuba has something in common with the war in Gaza: The offending party can end the strife and hardship IMMEDIATELY by doing the right thing.

Cuban leadership can end the dreaded EMBARGO immediately, by releasing political prisoners and calling for free and fair elections. Once they do that, they would almost have to put up a WALL on their northern shore to slow down all the investors who want to invest in an economy that has the most educated workforce in the Caribbean and Central American region.

This inevitability slows slightly every year as the Cubans with any common sense and courage flee that sinking ship. But it still holds true. Cuba would shortly be the most popular tourist destination in the region, and its agricultural industries would thrive.

Cuba was a tremendous location before the Castro Regime turned it into heck on earth.

Tremendous casinos and other tourist locations, great cigar and rum trade, the people lived great. I remember the episode when Ricky Ricardo's family came to New York for a visit from Cuba in the 50's, and they were less than impressed with Manhattan.

The whole place would be one big condo complex.

The banking system in Cuba has collapsed. People awoke to empty bank accounts and ATMs being empty. All cuban money is worthless in Cuba and the banks have closed.

How are the American banks still open?

Makes you wonder.

They have a fabulous reading program for kids after all.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this does not hurt the leader elite.

Fidel’s Cuba is a failure. All of the American Leftists celebrating and revering Castro and Che all of these years look foolish. Their hardline Communist approach and refusal to reform and evolve has done them in.

A LOT of people used boats to visit Cuba over the decades even though it was illegal to do so. They have lots of US dollars and Euros on the island as delivered by American and European tourists. But the Cuban government didn't want them to use them anymore and made all currency electronic. And it bankrupted the island.

It's a case of "Be careful of what you wish for because you just might get it"

Yes, well, you can't screw over the proles indefinitely before shit hits the fan sooner later. so there's that. Things might end up worse, but then they weren't going to get any better under multi-national corporate and gangster rule, either. More than enough Cubans were sleeping in ditches and starving and therefore didn't give a shit that the regime toppled pretty quickly. Unrestrained corruption tends to do that.
