Regardless, there followed an exciting period during which Ron DeSantis – I can’t quite believe I’m typing this – replaced the rattlesnake on the Florida flag with a gas cooker in an X post and assorted food-prep freedom fighters posted pictures of the flickering blue flames of liberty. It was a moment of lighthearted entertainment in unremittingly grim times, so hooray for Appliance War II.

As we can see the roots of this run deep. I dont know who started it but it seems any aspect of modern life is open to conspiracy theory. I just cant see the benefit of this crazy. My observation is that the makers of fridges and washing machines are always looking for a competitive edge.

That revolves around several factors. Energy efficiency is a key one. Its generally seen as a good thing. So they build appliances that cost us less to run.

The whole trajectory of appliances has been positive.Everything in our houses is better than it was. Why are the crazy right looking to stop that progress ?

Biden Blocked From Undoing Dishwasher, Washing Machine Rules (1)

". . . In 2022, under a new administration, the DOE didn’t fully respond to those complaints, the court said.

“DOE recognized the facts that undermined its Repeal Rule, cited other facts to suggest the Repeal Rule would conserve water and energy, and then implicitly credited the latter without explaining why,” the court wrote. “That is the touchstone of arbitrary and capricious agency action.”

If Biden energy officials thought the 2020 rules didn’t consider the conservation law’s requirements, the 2022 rules did even less to rectify the perceived shortcomings, the court wrote.

The agency “failed to adequately consider appliance performance, substitution effects, and the ample record evidence that DOE’s conservation standards are causing Americans to use more energy and water rather than less,” the court wrote.

The court also found it was unclear whether the Energy Policy and Conservation Act allowed the department to regulate water conservation from dishwashers and washing machines at all.

The ruling comes as the DOE works through a backlog of missed statutory deadlines for energy efficiency standards left by the Trump administration and intends on tightening rules for dozens of appliances. The agency estimated last month its efficiency standards will save consumers $1 trillion.

“The Biden administration’s dishwasher rule saved neither energy nor water,” Liz Murrill, Louisiana’s attorney general, said in a statement Tuesday. “For families—moms, dads, and kids who do laundry and dishes—this is a big win! We want appliances that work. I’ll keep fighting these irrational attacks on families and consumers by bureaucrats in D.C.”

The administration “will have to go back to square one” on water efficiency standards it has proposed, likely preventing it from further action until after the presidential election, said O.H. Skinner, executive director of the Alliance for Consumers.

The ruling should revive the Trump-era carve-out for shorter-duration machines, Skinner added. “But the ruling will have to be implemented before we find out the full details on that category, and that will take some time,” he said. . . . ."

The folks running everything don't give a damn about the. . "environment," they just know, there is a limited supply of energy to do everything they want. And what they really want is massive smart cities and huge data preprocessing centers processing massive amount of data on everything and everyone, so AI can control the lives of everything and everyone in a global technocratic police state. . making their centuries old dream of communism finally at long last work!

If they can just measure, track and control ever little bit of resource that is produced and consumed, they are sure they can finally get global communism to finally work, we all know, that is what this is really all about.

JUST CONTROL. And digitizing the entire world take massive amounts of energy. So there is not energy left over for the little people.

Only fools still bleeve in this false narrative. It is just a sham, a bait and switch in order to enslave the entire planet.

Yes that old enslavement thing.

Over the last few decades and longer we have had constant energy efficiency in products pushed on us. So much so that the comforts of living are affected in some ways. Of course, the elites keep living their ways of royalty.

As an employee of an electric company, let me explain what is actually going on…

The government wants these high efficiency machines as part of a program where they get to control things like your thermostat, your water heater temp, when you can run your washing machine and dishwasher, etc… The program has many names, including SmartGrid, GridMod, or many other things.

I wish. Look it up. Both the UK and US government have been very open and honest about it.

I work for NationalGrid here in the USA.
Mate your govt is generally incapable of doing anything, They had 50 years to create a civil society in the Stan and failed.

The Crick Cracks of this world should concentrate on damping down Sun activity .
Or move the Moon to a more favourable position to block incoming energy .

Big difference. Creating a stable society in Afghanistan would not have benefittd American politicians financially or politically. Therefore it wasn’t a priority.

On the other hand this would give them considerably more power and monetary advantage.

It has apparently escaped the notice of the Leftists who inhabit this venue that the Biden Administration and its minions are seeking to replace appliances that generate energy with natural gas and other carbon-based fuels with appliances that generate energy with electricity.

At present it is just seemingly random potshots at individual appliances...no more gas-powered lawnmowers or other yard equipment, no more natural gas stoves, hot water heaters, and soon, home furnaces. Soon it will be everything.

There are a couple things wrong with this campaign. It increases costs for working-class people, for one (but Leftists couldn't care less about those unfortunates). It presumes that electricity will presently be generated solely with renewables or unicorn farts (God forbid we see an "explosion" of nuclear power generation), but this will not happen within the lifetime of anyone currently alive. Finally, it presumes that with more than half the world's population SHIFTING TO COAL, GASOLINE, and NATURAL GAS to cook their food, propel their vehicles, power their machines, heat their homes, and generate electricity for their iPhones and such, our cutting back will have more impact than passing gas in a tornado. It won't.

To be completely realistic, coal is the most abundant, cheapest, and most secure source of BTU's on the planet, and the third world (including India, rural China, Africa, and half of South America) WILL USE IT ABUNDANTLY as they seek a path to modernity. And who has any right to say they should not do that?

Its about capability.
