But what does that tell you?When I go into an empty Protestant church, it feels like any room in any building. Empty. Devoid of anything special. When I go into a Catholic Church, it's completely different. Reverent. Silent. Potent. You can feel something profound is there. When I've attended a protestant church service, especially before it starts, the people are talking out loud, laughing, calling across the room, like it's a social hall. I don't feel the presence of God, except in that these are probably good people. But it's the same as if I were at a picnic with them.
That you throw in a few statues and a few stained-glass windows and that's all it takes for your imagination to run away with you?
Not that I would waste my time going to a church, ever, but frankly, I find the protestant churches to be a lot more sincere.
