Most pious Jews of good heart and conscience who follow the Torah know that such is not the way to achieve civilized, enlightened society.

it's really too bad that there can be no intelligent discussion about zionism or judaism without going over the edge.

though i'm no historian, i did have a pretty decent religious education at the hands of a noted rabbi of the Hebrew faith who taught us that racially we were descended from one of the twelve sons of jacob who was called Israel and that our religion was called the "Hebrew" or "All-One God Faith"

rabbi louis binstock (and others) also taught that the term "jew" is a pejorative or derogatory term associated with the tribe of judah, who were known to be backsliders and followers other gods, pissing off the lord god of israel "YHVH" and leading to the lord's allowing all sorts of terrible things to happen to his "chosen people".

at the time of the babylonian exile "jew" was something that the conquerors called all the captive israelites and it wasn't until the 20th century and the expansion of zionism that the term became recognized as being an acceptable way of describing the hebrew israelite people.
