January 19, 1917 The German Foreign Minister sent a coded telegram
(The Zimmermann Telegram) to Mexico proposing that they
attack the US, and would be rewarded with Texas, New
Mexico and Arizona.
The British decoded it and gave it to
Wilson on February 24.
The newspapers printed it on March 1, and it galvanized the public: the Congress declared war on Germany on April 6, 1917- sealing the fate of Germany.
Thus this telegram changed the course of history.
Is it possible that the election in Massachusetts can also be 'history-changer'? Could the this be the 'Scott heard 'round the world'...a stake in the heart of socialism?
One can only hope.
