Young Adults are Less Religious

Of course younger folks are less religious. Just let em have a heart attack or somesuch and they seem to get religion ;)
Fear of death is a major driver to "salvation".

I started to fear death more, when I started to question my religion and heaven. ;)My biggest fear is not existing anywhere.

See that's the problem. Socialism, in it's various forms, is what some of the young are accepting as their secular religion. It provides false faith, false hope, and false charity.

Really, is that what the kids are saying today? That's scary if true. Thank goodness my daughter has a good foundation in faith from me and my family, and is able to make her own choices of what she wants to believe.

her own choices?

or YOUR own choices?

I was afraid my daughters would be affected by secular liberals so I home schooled them.

Which gave the me opportunity, priviledge and power to REALLY BRAINWASH and INDOCTRINATE my daughters into believing what I TOLD them to believe...or else...

now my daughters are able to make their own decisions! (as pre-approved by me)

the thing is...
i'm not sure if my daughters are more afarid of god....or me...?

well
as long as they are deathly afraid of SOMEONE so that they don't make any decisions that will piss me or god off....

It is such a good feeling to know that through diligent brainwashing I was able to raise 2 daughters who "think for themselves"

ya...you should have taught them how religion is for the weak and only used to control people.....and it is evil.....

Survey: 72% of Millennials 'more spiritual than religious' - USATODAY.com

Key findings in the phone survey, conducted in August and released today:

•65% rarely or never pray with others, and 38% almost never pray by themselves either.

•65% rarely or never attend worship services.

•67% don't read the Bible or sacred texts.

Many are unsure Jesus is the only path to heaven: Half say yes, half no.

Sounds pretty typical... Many are unsure that chronic pot smoking will render them chronic under-acheivers...

Most of them are unsure that failing to bear their personal responsibilities will result in the forfeiture of their rights...

And most of them will live long enough to overcome their lack of sufficient perspective to recognize and respect the immutable principles of nature and find their way to the Father.

Did anyone ever stop to consider that rikrules was being sarcastic with his post?

Sheesh........most of you have no sense of humor.

Of course we knew he was sarcastic. But, he's also implying all people who have faith try to brainwash their children and indoctrinate them to their beliefs, without the choice to make a decision of faith on their own.

Many of us so called "Liberals" believe in God, yet some other Liberals mock the faith of Christians, I wonder why that is?

As a general rule; Leftists... AKA: Liberal, Moderate, Centrist, Mainstream progressives mouth a belief in God, but while a mile wide, it's rarely as deep a belief as their shadow; this a result of sup-par intellectual means and a general disdain for sound principle; not the least of which are the immutable principles of nature on which America is founded... thus the would-be disconnect of religious-liberals and their non-believing comrades... they basically believe the same thing.

You think you act like a christian?
You judge people, offer rewards for another poster's address, and you show very little compassion for your fellow man. You are only christian, in name only.

Well......you've got to admit, the brainwashing does happen quite a bit. Catholics in particular, as well as Mormons are very leery around anything that is outside of their religious experience.

I've also ran into that with quite a few Christians, because when they ask what I believe, and tell them I'm a Taoist who studies Judaic theology, 90 percent get a scared look in their eyes and tell me to have a good day, Jesus loves me.

The other 10 percent are those that are strong enough in their own faith to ask others what theirs is, so that I can share my beliefs with them, and they can share theirs with me. In those conversations I learn quite a bit.

First experience of that was sharing a stateroom on my last ship with the Ship's Chaplain.

Yet another step towards Communism. Thanks Bush-II and Bush-III (a.k.a., Obama)!!!!!!

Yes because every good atheist must also like communism </sarcasm>

Where do you come up with this crap?

Yes eventually they'll all come to worship the flying spaghetti monster.

As one of those young people that some of you are trying to ignorantly spew about and blame on socialism, I have to say you're dead wrong.

The reason people my age and generation are less religious occurs for more than a few reasons. It has nothing to do with political ideology.

Why is it people refuse to read what was actually said?

Who needs faith or the church when you have Big Daddy Big Gubmint?

No, Echo, not really. Avatar is just talking bunch of shit. Don't you know Socialism is the new Satan? Beware of socialism! The opium of the masses II!

LOL

I read what you said. You think some are accepting it as their religion. I just have to laugh right at you because so many of my generation (just like so many of yours) couldn't even define socialism, never mind worship it. But kerry on.

Every good communist must also like atheism since God cannot be greater than the State. The more the State provides, the less the people need the church. There are plenty of other factors, but the logic is pretty basic. But since you probably voted for either Bush-II or Bush-III, I can understand your confusion.
