you wake up with a guy in your apartment pointing a gun at you...I guess some people might just consider this a hostile act.....what does the newly awakened sleeper do......reaches for his own gun and shoots the jerk....soooooooo...the guy started the encounter unarmed, and still killed his attacker....why?

Because, he attacker is in response mode and in the middle of realizing his victim is reaching for a gun, he has to make the huge decision to cross that criminal line into murder....and he failed....

Yeah....you should read the story........it was obvious the guy was not conducting a no knock raid......

And again the criminal is dead. You post a lot of these and also claim most defenses don't end with someone dead. Strange.

The problem with getting all your info from gun sites is you never really get the full story:

The resident was sleeping in his bed when the sound of Arredondo breaking into his apartment woke him up, Miller said. He retrieved his gun and waited in his bed for Arredondo to enter his bedroom. Arredondo came into the room and ordered the tenant to get on the ground. It was then that the tenant shot Arredondo, fatally injuring him, Miller said.

So he was waiting for him and no doubt shot him through his blankets. So much for your explanation for why the good guy won. And you are really killing your theory that most defenders don't shoot and kill criminals.

It's becoming more and more clear why your views are so gun distorted. You read what the gun people put in front of you and take it for fact. Little do you know they are leaving out important facts. They have really brain washed you good.

Well...considering this event took place in the "real" world.........how do I not live in the real world......?

Luddly the coward, never used even his first name.......must have a lot to hide....

Law abiding citizens use guns to stop violent crime, and save lives on average 1.6 million times a year...you can read these stories at places like "The Armed Citizen" and thetruthaboutguns and gunssavelives....they even have a list of defensive gun uses based on location, as well as the type of weapon used...it is a good data base.

Not all defensive uses are dramatic, most of the time the victim presents the weapon and the thug runs away.....but many times, you have stories like this one.....

luddly the coward, you should check them out......might give you some courage......

It isn't my theory brain....it is reality....54% of defensive gun uses and not one shot is fired...most defenders don't have to shoot, most defenders if they do shoot only injure, and only in rare cases do they kill their attacker.......

Is Brain still in ashes and sackcloth over a wasted perp?

Sometimes when criminals are confronted by an armed homeowner they believe the homeowner won't shoot. They believe the intent is only to hold them for the police.

And then they sometimes learn the truth........after they wake up in the hospital....or explain themselves to their maker..........

54%? So what percent is the criminal shot dead? Most your examples involve dead criminals.

You mean over 20 years ago flawed surveys claimed that number. Crime is down 30% since then.

Sheriff told me to NEVER try to hold one for them.

Kill, them, get a plate number if you can, or let them leave, try to remember enough to ID them later, but, never, ever try to hold them for the Sheriff.

They cannot guarantee they can get here in less than a few hours.

Dead criminals is a good thing, Brain.

Because if it bleeds it leads and gets in the news sources where these various websites can collect them..............when the story is, man almost robbed but showed gun and robber fled........not so much news there.......
