That's ,pretty much the message that the Democrat Party and and their acolytes....including the black ones.....insist for black Americans.
Always an outsider in America.....and, in fact, an enemy.

1. The argument is that white folks will always hate you, oppress you, and never let you succeed. In fact, to prove you are a real man (or woman) you must eschew any characteristics associated with being white.
They even had the Smithsonian list features to be avoided:

“The chart endeavors to list "the ways white people and their traditions, attitudes and ways of life have been normalized over time and are now considered standard practices in the United States." Among those traditions, attitudes, and ways of life are: Individualism, hard work, objectivity, the nuclear family, a belief in progress, a written tradition, politeness, the justice system, respect for authority, delayed gratification and planning for the future, plus much more.”
Smithsonian Goes Full Marxist: Nuclear Family, Science, Christianity All Part of Oppressive 'Whiteness'

2. It hardly takes a great deal of analysis to see that those attributes are actually the way to self-reliance, to success, and prosperity, for anyone.
And the conclusion is that the Liberals want to make certain that black Americans always need the cossetting by the Democrats, and remain on "Uncle Sam's Plantation" (per Star Parker).

3. Worst of all, we find indoctrinated black spokespersons who encourage this demand that blacks remain outsiders, never truly avail themselves of the freedom and opportunity open to all.....ALL.....in America.
Which brings me to today's prime example of a black enemy of black Americans, who died on this day in 1997.

Coleman Young, in full Coleman Alexander Young, (born May 24, 1918, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, U.S.—died November 29, 1997, Detroit, Michigan), American politician, who was the first African American mayor of Detroit, Michigan (1974–93).

4. Coleman Young, foul-mouthed, anti-white radical.....same characteristics of the current Democrats.

... under Young's tenure, whites fled Detroit for the suburbs....and Young's message was 'let 'em go...' and that blacks should get guns so that when whitey tried to come back and reclaim neighborhoods, the blacks would be ready for 'em.

5. “Afterward, the Motor City lost even more of its factories, stores and jobs as well as thousands of its middle-class residents, particularly whites who had been moving to the suburbs in great numbers since Detroit's 1967 race riots. Mr. Young, in his autobiography, ''Hard Stuff'' (Viking Penguin, 1994), noted that 1.6 million whites lived in Detroit at the end of World War II and that only 200,000 were left by 1990.”

This is the pathology holding black Americans at the bottom of the economic totem pole......Democrats, Liberals.......and worst of all some of their fellow blacks.
You've seen this pathology from some on this board.

There is, evidently, some comfort in being known as a victim, of being feted by the Democrats, having special rules made up for you, that is more valuable to some individuals, than earned prosperity.

“Earned success is the secret to meaningful happiness. The government can improve your net worth with a check, but it cannot improve your self-worth.”
Jonah Goldberg

Recognizing that must also build a reservoir of anger and hostility. Mark Twain put it this way:
If you pick up a stray dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. That is the principal difference between dogs and men.

The sadist part is how many black Americans are willing to accept Democrat largesse in return for being treated as pets.

Another significant characteristic that holds blacks back is not honoring those who have succeeded....the 'acting white,' 'Uncle Tom,' thing.

John McWorter has written about it as well.
As does Joseph Phillips

Clarence Page of the Chicago Trib say this on one of the Sunday shows, how blacks will pull down one who succeeds.

"Crab mentality, sometimes referred to as crabs in the bucket, is a phrase that describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase "if I can't have it, neither can you." The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs. Individually, the crabs could easily escape from the pot, but instead, they grab at each other in a useless "king of the hill" competition which prevents any from escaping and ensures their collective demise"
