.....you know, Lauren Boebert is kinda attractive, but.......

The youngest woman ever elected to Congress again made headlines and sparked conservative criticism when she said Monday that she and other young Americans fear "the world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., made the remark during an interview with writer Ta-Nehisi Coates at the MLK Now event in New York City celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

Ocasio-Cortez called the fight to mitigate the effects of climate change her generation's "World War II."

"Millennials and Gen Z and all these folks that come after us are looking up, and we're like, 'The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?' " she said.

The world will end by new years day 2022, start spreading that.

2031. Sheesh.

@AOC

This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and “fact check” it. Like the “world ending in 12 years” thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal. But the GOP is basically Dwight from The Office so who knows.

'2031. Sheesh'.
19 +12= 31..................Very good, you're better than Trump.

I stated the world will end in 32 days.

It sure wasn't literal, but then again, the GQP thinks it is.

The gullibility of the GQP.

The world is gonna end soon, but not literally. That makes sense. LOL!

Why would she base the Green New Deal on the gullibility of the opposing party?
She wasn't selling it to the other party.

Admit it, she's just a moron and you buy into her claims.

She's hot.

But she's similar leftists though, because she's bitchy and enters pompous.

She's at least a decent judge of character, due what she said about Omar. Sorry but she's right, the eyes don't lie.

I was mistaken.

The timeline Ocasio-Cortez referenced was likely based on a U.N. backed report, released last year, that predicted the consequences of man-made climate change would become irreversible in twelve years if global carbon emissions are not immediately and dramatically reduced.
She wasn't selling it to the other party.
From the same article.
True, she was trying to sell it an audience that came to see her, an MLK celebration in his honor.

Admit it, she's just a moron and you buy into her claims.
Evidently, it's the GQP that bought into her claims.

So, republicans MUST have bought Gomer's claims.

Rep. Louie Gohmert, a Texas Republican, asked a National Forest Service official whether the federal land agencies could alter the orbit of the Earth and moon to address climate change.

"I understand, from what's been testified to the Forest Service and the [Bureau of Land Management], you want very much to work on the issue of climate change," Gohmert said.

"I was informed by the immediate past director of NASA that they found that the moon's orbit is changing slightly and so is the Earth's orbit around the sun.

We know there's been significant solar flare activities, and so, is there anything that the National Forest Service or BLM can do to change the course of the moon's orbit or the Earth's orbit around the sun? Obviously, that would have profound effects on our climate."

The Bible is a story dipshit. Your believing with all your heart politicians who’s sole purpose is to get votes.
No shit, it's a story, a manmade one.
The GQP rely on their gullibility too, just to get votes.
That's their base.

In another sign Donald Trump is eyeing a run to regain the White House, the former president and his religious advisers announced the launch of a national faith advisory board on Thursday (Sept. 2), apparently aimed at reinvigorating his conservative Christian base.

The new initiative, first reported by the Jewish news outlet The Forward, was formally unveiled on a conference call organized by Intercessors for America and led by longtime Trump adviser Paula White. The Pentecostal megachurch pastor said the new effort, which includes participation from “70 executives,” is intended to continue the “great work that we have done,” referring to efforts she oversaw as head of the Trump White House’s faith-based office.

White drew parallels to the creation of a previous “faith advisory board,” a likely reference to a group of largely evangelical Christian leaders who advised the 2016 Trump presidential campaign and operated as an informal council on religion matters throughout his presidency.

She took their moronic claim and kicked it up a notch!

We bought that she believed her claims, and we mocked her for it.

Actually, AOC doesn't act "nuts".
She's pretty rationale. And articulate.
She's smart.
You may disagree with her politics, but she is doing the job for her constituents pretty well.

She grasped the potential of social media as a means to communicate to her constituents (the Bronx and Queens) better than any other Representative or Senator in their districts.
And with that she made legislation more transparent and politicians more approachable for her constituents. Those are good things.
She introduced the Green New Deal....which is a significant complicated bill.
To be sure, aspects of it may be too ambitious for this time, but it showed she is a serious legislator. It's details will percolate for some time to come, and in future legislation.

And then the crystallizing incident that made me an admirer was her in-your-face disciplining of Florida Congressmen Ted Yoho.
I don't know how you feel about that exchange she had with Yoho on the steps of the Capitol, poster IrishLass, where he called her a 'F______g Bitch' in front of another Congressman, AOC' staff, and ...duh! ..... a reporter.

AOC very rightfully publicly held him to account for his misogyny.
I have a strong and assertive bride, she would have done what AOC did. I have no doubt whatsoever on that. So would my mother when she was alive. My treasured nieces too, ain't gonna put up with d*ckhead men dissing them.
So, living in the family world as I do.....I heard AOC's response, and I recognized the steel within her.

She said on the floor of the House when she called Yoho out:

"My father, thankfully, is not alive to see how Mr. Yoho treated his daughter. My mother got to see Mr. Yoho's disrespect on the floor of this house towards me on television, and I am here because I have to show my parents that I am their daughter and that they did not raise me to accept abuse from men.

Now, what I am here to say is that this harm that Mr. Yoho levied, tried to levy against me, was not just an incident directed at me, but when you do that to any woman..... in using that language, in front of the press, he gave permission to use that language against his wife, his daughters, women in his community, and I am here to stand up to say that is not acceptable."

"...... this issue is not about one incident. It is cultural. It is a culture of a lack of impunity, of acceptance of violence and violent language against women....."
-------------------------------------------------------------

So with that, I became an admirer of the steel within Alexandreia Ocasio-Cortez.

It surprises me, IrishLass, that you feel otherwise.
Cortez is an unattractive actress, hired to spout lines given to her by her Marxist handlers. She has no idea what she's saying. When starts believing her press and forgets she is an actress, that's when she goes off script and gets into trouble by saying moronic things.

"......an unattractive actress, hired to spout lines given to her by her Marxist handlers. She has no idea what she's saying."

I'll be gobsmacked. I didn't know that.

But the poster
Mashmont raises an intriguing topic. Meaning, just who are these 'Marxist handlers'?

Please share some names, poster Mashmont.

And, by necessity....some credible informed sourcing on your insight on these named individuals.

"Marxists handlers"??? OK. Show us.

Thanx.

.....but, as WaPo describes she's trying too hard without enough game in her act.....

Today, they had this treatment of poor Lauren, and the crazies trying to out-crazy each other.
She can't like the interpretation that she's a water-carrier, the ingenue, understudy..........for Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Still, my poor avatar though it was entertaining.......

"a clinic in crazy talk".
Ditto that. We know.

Poor Lauren Boebert.
The QAnon-admiring first-term Republican congresswoman from Colorado has tried everything to get noticed. Since she burst on the scene by tweeting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) whereabouts during the Jan. 6 insurrection, she has attempted one stunt after another.

To protest President Biden’s immigration policy, she noisily unfurled a foil blanket and covered herself in it during Biden’s address to Congress. She announced at a town hall that she had “very good information” that a secret scandal would oust Democrats from power before 2022, a popular QAnon claim. Two hours after the Boulder shooter killed 10 people in her home state, she sent a fundraising email asking donors to tell “radical liberals” Pelosi and Biden “‘HELL NO’ to taking our guns.”

But she has languished as a poor man’s Sarah Palin and a third-rate Josh Hawley, as others seize the spotlight with superior antics. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), another QAnon aficionado, inflamed the House with her antisemitic talk of Jewish “space lasers” and likening public health guidelines to the Holocaust. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.) spoke at a confab of QAnon types where the violent overthrow of the U.S. government was contemplated. Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) compared the Jan. 6 insurrection to a “normal tourist visit.”

Boebert had to raise her game. And on Wednesday, she gave it her best shot. She assembled 10 colleagues in the House TV studio to announce her new resolution to censure Biden — a reprimand that a chamber of Congress has delivered only once in U.S. history, to Andrew Jackson — over Biden’s border policy. “The Biden regime has punched our Border Patrol agents in the face!” she shouted, after calling Vice President Harris “Cackling Kamala.”

Not bad. But Boebert was immediately overshadowed by her colleagues, who put on a clinic in crazy talk.

She only needs to cry at a fence and pretend she’s handcuffed to skyrocket up the political ladder.

Well, the advice from Taz has traction with me.
There is only so much bandwidth.
I get it.
So, in the future I will try to distill a bit more.

My concern with that Boebert article was that the whole piece added context to the issues raised ---Boebert herself, and the slide into the nutbar-world by some in the GOP, some of the most prominent GOP spokespeople -----in both the Rightfield and the Leftfield media.

Those nutbars are giving the rest of America real pause in our confidence in the Republican party, and more importantly, pause in our confidence that Congress is a forum for serious people to debate and accomplish serious legislation that helps Americans. When nutbars are the face of Congress that can't be a good thing for America.

IMHO

Yes, the demleftists such as Nancy, Chuckie, Aunt Ester and The squad are serious people writing bringing forth serious legislation that seriously helps serious Americans.
