 :iyfyus.jpg: :hyper: :hyper: So if yesterday was "Black Friday",, does that mean today is "White Saturday"?, what about Sunday? "Tri-Gender Sunday", or "Russian Sunday"?
Well we all know what Monday is. What about Tuesday? "Guam Tuesday"?
Im a bit confused/befuddled. I need some answers over this crazy shopping week.
I would guess that we will have a "I Feel Black" shopping day coming up soon.
:huh1: :eusa_snooty: :cryhug_1_:

"Black Friday" is simply a metaphor for the day retailers climb out of the red and into the black. It's the "official" kickoff day for holiday shopping.
That's it, nothing more.

That's actually a more recent explanation for the name. It was first coined that by the Philadelphia police in the early 60s because of all the traffic jams downtown on the Fri.& Sat. after TG.

FACT CHECK: How Did 'Black Friday' Get Its Name?

The accounting explanation comes much later, circa 1981.
