YAWN--Another mass shooting

Liberals need to learn how to get over incidents like this. Mass shootings are part of living in a free country.

I appreciate and agree with this sentiment but I don't ever want to get over them. I want us to work to reduce them but we will never eliminate them; crime is the price of liberty. Even so, we could have a totalitarian government and still not eliminate all violent crime. Eliminating crime is not even a worthwhile goal; the cost is too high. Just let people defend themselves and that will reduce it far more than could any amount of gun control.

Mental health is the issue. Not guns.

Oh yea? So if that is the case, then why is it so easy for a lunatic to buy a gun?
It's not actually.

Really? The Fed Ex shooter had his shotgun seized by the FBI after they interviewed him, and was flagged as a risk, and then legally purchased two assault rifles which he used to slaughter eight people.

So, yea, it is easy, and it happens all the time.
If the FBI was involved, then the FBI background check should have blocked him if he purchased those guns from a store. That being said, if the check didn't block him, then this wouldn't be the first time that has happened. Dylann Roof was a felon and should not have passed the FBI check either, but he did.

So the real problem here isn't laws. The check itself apparently doesn't work consistently like it should. Fixing that check system should be the focus of activists.

Fixing the check system would not have stopped Dylann Roof; he was a wacko and would have gotten a gun somewhere. Even the usual answer, arming the citizens would not have helped; it is very doubtful that a group of religious choir members would have carried anyway. In the end, there's never been any way to prevent the actions of a determined madman.
