World Leaders Condemn Acts By Paul, Rubio & 47 'Traitors' Who Sent Letter To Iran - Petition Soars
by Leslie SalzilloFollow

Highly sensitive weapons negotiations between seven nations, including the U.S., China, Russia, France, UK, Germany, and Iran have been compromised this past week by what some call a treasonous letter written to Iran by 47 U.S. Republican lawmakers.
This act has caused outrage nationwide against the signees of the letter. Two of the names contained in the message are 2016 Republican presidential candidates Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Senator Marco Rubio. After condemnation came from the American people, President Obama, Democrats and even Republicans, world leaders/officials are now expressing their shock and disgust.

Karen De Young with the Washington Post relays some of the quotesin her article. Here is one:

“Suddenly, Iran can say to us: ‘Are your proposals actually trustworthy if 47 senators say that no matter what the government agrees to, we can subsequently take it off the table?’ ” German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said during a visit to Washington. De Young continues:
Even before Steinmeier’s visit on Thursday, Germany, Britain and France had repeatedly expressed concern about congressional interference in the talks.
Ambassadors from the three Western European countries have been a frequent presence on Capitol Hill, trying to persuade lawmakers to hold off on new Iran sanctions or any other legislation related to the negotiations while they are underway. Iran's Foreign Minister Zarif replied to the letter calling it a 'propaganda ploy.'
Zarif expressed astonishment that some members of US Congress find it appropriate to write to leaders of another country against their own President and administration. He pointed out that from reading the open letter, it seems that the authors not only do not understand international law, but are not fully cognizant of the nuances of their own Constitution when it comes to presidential powers in the conduct of foreign policy. More critical talks and negotiations will resume next week in Switzerland when Secretary of State John Kerry and other leaders will meet with Iranian officials. The deadline for creating a framework for the deal is set for the end of the March (with no extensions). Kerry says the letter by 47 Republicans risks… “…undermining the confidence that foreign governments in thousands of important agreements commit to. It purports to tell the world that if you want to have any confidence in your dealings with America, they have to negotiate with 535 members of Congress.” There is a viral We The People Petition circulating social media asking for legal action to be taken against the 47 'traitors'. The petition has garnered over a quarter of a million signatures in less than five days. The chance of criminal charges and convictions is doubtful. What is most significant here is this petition gives the American people a chance to voice their own anger and indignation against the likes of John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, Tom Cotton, Marco Rubio and 42 other members of Congress who signed the highly dangerous correspondence.

I don't think any of them realize what they have done. They're not smart enough to realize just how humiliated they SHOULD be to have Iran educate them about their own constitution. And certainly Cotton made a complete ass of himself in his weekend interview.

It was a bad thing. Insulted our allies. Lowered our standing in the world. Made us look divided and weak to our enemies....

big deal , world 'leeders' , same as the tin pot dictators at the 'un' , I don't care what they think . And yeah , USA is divided , good .

Obama's apology tour made clear that we are divided. If anyone had a doubt, they only needed to follow our politics for the last 6 years.

Suddenly, what the world thinks is important again to liberals. When the world lost respect for us and had sharp criticism for Obama, libs said 'who cares' what they think. Are we supposed to care now what dictators think? The left doesn't give a shit what our allies think.

Obama chose to be divisive by excluding all of congress from the discussions regarding Iran. Obama thinks he is a dictator who doesn't need to follow our rules. Instead, he wants to enter into a lame agreement with Iran that is not legally binding and relies on trusting Iran to mean anything. What got ruined here? There is no meaningful treaty and Obama is merely spinning things while he gives Iran the nod to do as they please.

This is nothing but more bullshit being pushed by the Obama administration to try and make the Republicans look bad. Playing games is all that guy knows how to do.

Case ya havent notice we are didvided

When the shrub was prez, I believed "my country, right or wrong". While he was in office, I disagreed with damn near everything he did, but I'm an American and that's far more important to me than party.

I wish RWs loved their country but, clearly, they do not.

Clementine - there was no "apology tour". Get a new lie.

Which beats Hell outta being an entire nation of groveling apologists! Liberal males are not circumcised - their religion requires they all be nutted (neutered).
Thanks, it's nice to see someone on your side who can spell and type a coherent comment.

Very telling that the RW Pootarian traitors are always clutching at their crotches but don't man-up against US enemies.

1) It might not have been the best thing, but someone had to do it.

2) Our standing in the world was already lowered when Obama started apologizing for America for its past transgressions.

3) We already are divided, if you haven't noticed.
