“What to the American slave is your Fourth of July? I answer, a day that reveals to him more than all other days of the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mock; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, are to him mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy - a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation of the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of these United States at this very hour.”
-
Frederick Douglas, Black Republican

And this is why black republicans today are called Uncke Toms and sellouts. Ben Carson would shit his pants in fear if he even thought about saying the words Douglass did. Larry Elder would ask to be transported to the nearest plantation. Clarence Thomas would keel over and die. Candice Owens would volunteer to be a plantation owners concubine.

So let me know when the Republican party finds some Frederick Douglasses instead of Larry Lawn Jockey or Bootlickung Bennie.

There really is nothing to disagree with. Douglass spoke these words and no black republican today has the guts to stand up to white racism.

Makes sense. Republicans freed the slaves from their Democrat plantation.

LBJ sure called it though, didn't he?

While one can't disagree with the fact that he said those words, there's plenty about those words which someone may choose to disagree.

You don't get to decide for someone else what is agreeable or disagreeable...

In the meantime, back to reality, the Democratic Party is the party of slavery, the KKK, segregation, Jim Crow, black disarmament, festering lawlessness, government dependency. . . .

“The worst enemy that the Negro have is this white man that runs around here drooling at the mouth professing to love Negros and calling himself a liberal, and it is following these white liberals that has perpetuated problems that Negros have. If the Negro wasn’t taken, tricked or deceived by the white liberal, then Negros would get together and solve our own problems. I only cite these things to show you that in America, the history of the white liberal has been nothing but a series of trickery designed to make Negros think that the white liberal was going to solve our problems. Our problems will never be solved by the white man.” -- Malcolm X

Also:

There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs—partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. —Booker T. Washington

There is a certain class of race problem-solvers who don't want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent.

“Any time you throw your weight behind a political party that controls two thirds of the government and that party can’t keep the promise that it made to you during election time and you’re dumb enough to walk around continuing to identify yourself with that party, you’re not only a chump but you’re a traitor to your race.”

That's not reality. It's a racist trying to gaslight.

THIS is reality:

Point number 1: Republicans authored an amendment making slavery a constitutionally protected activity. The Republican party is the party of the Corwin Amendment that would have made slavery constitutional.

Point number 2: A Republican president, with the support of the Republican Party, ended reconstruction. The Republican Party is the party of the 1877 Compromise that ended reconstruction and paved the way for Jim Crow.

Point number 3: Once blacks got a foothold in the Republican party and gained some semblance of political equality, white Republicans took steps to purge blacks from leadership positions. The Republican Party is the party of the Lily White movement, a group of Republicans that worked to purge blacks from the party.

Point number 4: Republicans consistently broke promises or ignored issues that affected black people. When blacks got Civil Rights, the Republican Party did not believe that was civil or right and decided that extremism in defense of liberty was no vice. In 1964 the Republican Party turned its back on blacks after nearly 100 years of black support.

Point number 5: Today’s Republican Party is controlled by a racist Anti-Black base.

The problem with Booker T writing that in the early 1900's is he was completely wrong. He wrote that during Jim Crow. I laugh every time one of you fools post this.

“And when I speak, I don't speak as a Democrat. Or a Republican. Nor an American. I speak as a victim of America's so-called democracy. You and I have never seen democracy - all we've seen is hypocrisy. When we open our eyes today and look around America, we see America not through the eyes of someone who has enjoyed the fruits of Americanism. We see America through the eyes of someone who has been the victim of Americanism. We don't see any American dream. We've experienced only the American nightmare.”

May I suggest a moving company?

Washington did not condone institutional injustice. He routinely spoke out against it. Rather, he opposed the problem solvers who eschewed the support of those who wanted to help build self-sustaining educational and economic enterprises. Washington despised Marxist problem solvers like Du Bois who insensately complained, accused, and begged. Only fools trust in government.

Move to Europe. In America, everybody has first amendment rights. This right is not reserved only for right wing white men and women to whine about not getting what they think they are entitled to from the government.

Washington was wrong when he made that comment. He said that silly mess during Jim Crow then watched whites burn up black communities. Dubois ended up being right as his way ended segregation while Booker T's enabled it. But to the white racist the black appeaser is always the favorite. You say only fools trust the government after whites have been given everything they have due to government legislation.
