I'm not much of a pet person. Not because I don't like animals, but because I don't have the schedule that can accommodate a pet.

But!...my wife is a pet person and has always had a normal job...

An owl tried to get our OG cat, Missy. She managed to escape, but has a bad case of kitty PTSD. She's always cringing at the ceiling fan and stuff like that.

I worry about the local hawks and my cat going out midday. Luckily she's a little witch of the night herself. I keep a powerful .22 caliber pellet rifle handy. When she was little, I worried about her being carried off. Now I think its less of a worry but they could still mess her up badly. If they really did get a hold of her and the pellet rifle wasn't handy, Id still use the 9mm (or a hatchet!) and just plead no contest to discharge or hunting laws. Shes my girl and that's that.

That was my first thought.

Cats will also drink antifreeze and die. They'll eat any number of houseplants that are fatal to them

People who never had a cat don't understand how attached you become -- unless you lack basic humanity

My blind cat named Chunks... because of his size... died a year and a half ago... he was a Stray kitten whose mother brother and sister were hit by a speeding car...
That's what I was told at the shelter...
He had a great long life with me and my two dogs and my other cat named Annie who is also gone...
Chunks was smart and loved people and even loved my dogs... he slept with my Shepherd most nights....

Happy they got her. I hope she gets serious jail time. My cats have ALL been strays who came to me looking for help. They've all been great companions who's names I will never forget

future serial killer right there.

Good point regarding filthy humans. The filthiest of them are those Hassidic Jews with the funny hats and hairdo and strong body odor.
