There are programs in which a mobile veterinarian will set out traps for strays and then spay and neuter them after a physical exam.
The population of strays drops dramatically after about a year of doing this.
That's awesome! I dunno if we have anything like that. We've paid to have the ones we have here spayed- it's pricey, but better than them reproducing till we have my aunt in laws situation. That's crazy. She feeds the ones that live on their property, but can't afford to get them fixed, so the numbers just grow. It's heartbreaking and maddening!
