In a letter sent to the federal agency, ERCOT, the state's non-profit grid operator, said demand had unexpectedly reached an all-time winter demand record of about 74,000 megawatts Friday morning, and that generator failures had pushed the grid to the brink.

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The high winds and extremely cold temperatures leading to thousands of power outages across North Texas today.

Locally, the majority being seen in Dallas and Collin Counties. Homeowners say it's been a pain.

"I'm in the dark," Roque Garcia said. "It's the whole neighborhood."

The Princeton resident is using battery operated lights and keeping warm by the fire.

"It is very frustrating because we pay our electric bills to Oncor and all day it's been going in and out," he said.

Looks like the coal patch isn't doing any better. At least Virginia is begging the federal government for help.

Which thanks to the federal government, and not from any private organization, their situation has improved.

Private organization will never be able to produce, build, or maintain what the federal government can. It's not even close.

When private corp0rations go bankrupt, who is it that bails out their debt again?

Yeah

The good news is only a part of Texas was froze up ... other parts continued to produce electricity ... so this is a 5-year or 10-year event ...
The crisis two years ago is when the all of Texas froze up, and they couldn't get connected to the Eastern Interconnect fast enough ...
When North Dakota freezes up, they draw power from Florida ... Texans are too stupid to do this ...

Wut the blue fuck are you going on about?

Hummm. Texas has been on a ”green” wind initiative for a number of years now. A large portion of Texas normally does not see temperatures this low And houses are not built to for the extreme cold. Add to that all those moving into state trying to escape blue states. Wonder why there would be a demand on electricity and be such a stress on the grid?
Duhhh

I wonder if this is an organised US scam .

I think they are pumping the sympathy angle and looking for charity and a few food parcels .

We know how tough and mighty US armed forces are ( something they never tire of telling us ) so surely they can solve this minor blip even if John Wayne is no longer around .

Watch out in the EU and UK . They are out to scam you into fighting by proxy their war against winter chill .
Usual form . Usual suspects .

Ummm dude.Texas is not connected to the national power grid it is not a matter of throwing a switch. It would be a very expensive and long undertaking to connect it, plus if even a small portion of Texas were to draw off the national grid it would probably take down a large portion of the grid. But yeah go with your idea

I thought N. Texas did draw from bordering states.

Aww.... The.Forum.Fuckboy is concerned about my power grid. Well, to the extent it can score some political points off real Americans that may be suffering.

Bundle up in your trailer in Fuckoff, Delaware and be glad that most Americans are productive.... they're nothing like you.

If we used DC, then yeah, it's just a matter of throwing a switch ... but we use AC, and we have to phase match or very bad things happen ... shockingly, it was financial reasons why the connection was so terribly delayed ... the actual physical connections are just a few hours with thousands of skill technicians on-site ...

You might be surprised what can get done when people are dying ...

No ... Texas arranged for out-of-state standby power plants to start up and provide the power for just hospitals and emergency services AND field voltage for their own power plants ... and that required Texas to comply with Federal rules regarding interstate transfer of electricity ... something Texas operators don't do in normal conditions ...

"Practical Engineering" Youtube channel did a series on grid operations, and this included an exhaustive survey of what exactly happened that faithful week in Texas ... the grid was shut down ... you should learn why that makes your comments misguided ...

Your car has an alternator, so why do you have a battery? ...

There are 15,000 windmills in Texas, more than any other state. Why aren't they filling the gap? Is it because "green energy" is a scam?

Windfarms added power in this storm.

A couple of Nuclear Power Plants would cure the problem. Wind and Solar suck.

I live here in Austin Country, Texas and we didn’t lose power, so Skew tell me why you lack the knowledge of this?

Oh, why do you care about Texas anyway seeing they refuse to turn Commie Blue for you?
