Do you folks create a simple restore point before every new update ??
I assume you can access the restore point in safe mode if things go sideways

Does this help?:
I checked Windows Update and it downloaded and installed a Microsoft Update that took considerable time. I noted during the update that a restore point was not created. With Windows 7, such points were always created prior to the update installation. Does Windows 10 employ a different strategy for the implementation and creation of restore points?
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

This problem might be because, the System Protection is turned off.

Please follow the below steps and check:
Check if system protection is set to on, windows 10 default is off.
  • Press Winkey+Pause/Break key.
  • Select System Protection, under protection settings, check if it is on, if not, select configure, and select turn on system protection.
Hope the information helps to fix the issue, if you have any further queries, feel free to post. We are here to assist you.
Regards,
Guru Kiran

I think it automatically created a restore point with every update. I just checked on my system, and there's a restore point corresponding to an update that occurred earlier today.
I thought W10 does not enable it ??

Maybe it does create restore points before updates
I have never checked ???
