Cop responds to shoplifting report with help not handcuffs - CBS News
When reading through the entire story it shows so well how treating each situation according to the factors involved gives our society an great aspect to emulate.
From the victim, a store official said he didn't want to press charges,to the Officer at the scent Roby agreed to the shoplifter. The entire community was served in a better way than arresting and charging the shoplifter.
"Roby said there was nothing special about what he did and that his fellow officers do selfless acts -- changing tires, giving people rides to homeless shelters -- every day. It's just not always seen."
Thank you to the store official and thank you to the officer.

Community policing and human decency works, but the right-wingers will want that shoplifting bastard locked up for life, that's the Pro-Life position after all.

Wrong again, Paints his toenails. Conservatives are much more compassionate and charitable than Progressives. You see, we give freely of our time and money while you also give freely of our time and money.

It was disheartening to see political lines drawn about the story. That was not my intention. It was to show the fact that we do have understanding and compassion and we need to focus on that rather than try to always divide us.

Probably not the place to get that - but you are right. There is far more that draws us together than there is that draws us apart. It's just a matter of what we choose to focus on.

Perhaps you are right but taking the first step in the correct direction is always a good place to start.
Some will not change their rhetoric or their hatred for one another, that is a given.
