Sorry bout that,

1. Nukes or no nukes?
2. Ukraine has them, will they use them?
3. Enquiring minds want to know.

"Russia is “poised to strike” Ukraine, the US said Saturday amid increasingly frantic warnings from the West about a possible invasion, reports of shelling and an uptick in violence in the region."

4. So they are not known to have them, and yet....we wonder.

Dumb thread. . . aborted at birth.

No, Ukraine does not have any nuclear weapons.

". . . In 1994 Ukraine agreed to destroy the weapons, and to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).[5][6]

<snip>

2014 annexation of Crimea

Despite Russia's claimed annexation of Crimea, which the UN General Assembly rejected as invalid,[13] the Government of Ukraine in 2014 reaffirmed its 1994 decision to accede to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty as a non-nuclear-weapon state.[14]

Pavlo Rizanenko, a member of the Ukrainian parliament told USA Today that Ukraine may have to arm themselves with their own nuclear weapons if the United States and other world leaders do not hold up their end of the agreement. He said "We gave up nuclear weapons because of this agreement. Now, there's a strong sentiment in Ukraine that we made a big mistake."[15] He also said that, "In the future, no matter how the situation is resolved in Crimea, we need a much stronger Ukraine. If you have nuclear weapons, people don't invade you."[16]

On December 13, 2014 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated that he did not want Ukraine to become a nuclear power again.[17]. . . "

Sorry bout that,

1. Putin is ordering the Russian people to practice nuclear survival; they fear that Ukraine held back a few nukes, *a dozen* when they said they would agree to destroy them.
2. Has anyone who had nukes at one time, ever really gave them up, be honest.
3. Insurance of having nukes goes a long way when you live next to Putin.
4. Seems Putin is the one who is cautious on kicking off a war with Ukraine.
5. Might end up kicking off WWIII.
6. Which could be why he is using a slow hand.
7. If Ukraine didn't have nukes they would roll over real fast with their hands up, seeing they are staring Putin in the eyes, there is a certain uncertainty.
8. Don't think Putin wants to start a war with Ukraine, and the draw back a nub.
9. "The way I see it." ~*CWN*
10. I could be wrong, but that's unlikely.

US Sec.Defence Austin: Now 150k Russian troops on Ukraine border, up in last couple days. "In many ways this brings Russian troops right up to NATO's doorstep," he says, noting activities seen, ie boosting blood supplies, aren't what you do if "you're ready to pack up and go home."

How dare Russia put its country next to the perpetually expanding doorstep of a massive military alliance!!!

From seeing Ukes great progress in tools, auto and motorcycle manufacturing, appliances, electronics-software, medicine and advancements in cuisine...I don't think they have anyone there smart enough to light the fuse and make it fly.

LUGANSK, Feb 20 - RIA Novosti. Ukrainian troops are shelling the territory of the LPR from artillery shells along the entire contact line, presumably they are preparing to attack, Ivan Filiponenko, the official representative of the People's Militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, told reporters on Sunday.

"As we expected, after the preparatory measures, the enemy took a number of aggressive actions against the Luhansk People's Republic. In all directions of the line of contact, the enemy has made preparations for the proposed offensive actions, accompanied by active artillery shelling of the positions of the People's Militia and the settlements of the LPR both on the line of contact and in depth," Filiponenko said.

He stressed that "the situation on the line of contact has significantly worsened over the past hours."
Representatives of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics said on Thursday morning that the armed forces of Ukraine opened fire on their positions. Ruslan Yakubov, head of the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire Regime, told RIA Novosti that Kiev ignores the Minsk agreements by using mortars and artillery. The representative of the LPR in the political subgroup Rodion Miroshnik told RIA Novosti that by shelling the territory of the republics of Donbass with heavy weapons, Kiev purposefully violates the measures for a truce in Donbass signed in the summer of 2020.

The representative of the People's Militia of the DPR stressed that the artillery armament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, prohibited by the Minsk agreements and located in positions near the settlements of Donbass, indicates preparation for a military solution. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov claims that Kiev does not plan any military actions and military operations. As he said on Thursday, Ukraine intends to act in a political and diplomatic way.

Western countries that provide diplomatic and military support to Kiev have repeatedly called on Kiev to implement the Minsk agreements during the last series of meetings and negotiations. In particular, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that all parties should adhere to them. According to Scholz, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky promised to submit draft laws on the special status of Donbass, constitutional reform and electoral law for discussion in the contact group on Ukraine.
