Writing from Beirut, Franklin Lamb seems to think some Lebanese are beginning to suspect their country will join Iraq and Libya during the coming twelve months.

"Many who thought their team and its local and international supporters were invincible appear to be rethinking recent events. More are realizing that their enemies are also skilled and fearless fighters and not at all afraid to die for their religion, or related causes, and may well be growing in number as they view the results of their handiwork..."

"There are reports, whose accuracy is difficult to verify that scores of jihadists are arriving here from Syria, Iraq and other countries.

"The last half of 2013 has seen a dramatic rise in the number of young male fighters from North Africa and the Levant.

"Many are joining Al Nusra and ISIS rather than choosing more 'moderate' groups.

"The six-week training camps are attracting a majority of the wannabe jihadists who come for a number of religious and non-religious reasons and who want to join the better established and most widely admired ‘winning teams.’

"Additionally, the Golani and Baghdadi groups reportedly offer the best food, the most 'inspiring' jihadist ideology, newer and more powerful weapons, heavy winter clothing including gloves, and salaries of up to $ 450-500 per month depending on potential exhibited during the 45 days training camp with credit given to applicants with vetted previous experience."

$even Muslim countries $lated for regime change as early as November 2001.
Why should anyone be $urpri$ed about what's happening in Lebanon?

an AXIS power including Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Libya could very well be
the agenda. Such an idea is very consistent with jihadist fascist filth. In fact---
based on comparative ideology----it is more consistent than was the AXIS power system in which Germany and Italy became allies in the 1930s. <<< that one was actually silly

Once it happens----Jordan is likely to get squashed. The way things seem to be
moving ----Egypt is likely to join up----and Yemen. The oil Emirates----will lose
their most properous who will cut and run------and, the remnants will probably join.

If the world does not sit up and take notice FAST------Netanyahu was right-----we
are back to 1939. I am a jew------so the usual suspects can call me a
"WAR MONGER" ----just as you guys characterized jews in the 1930s---remember??

I for one would never call you a WARMONGER, but I will call you a visionary who sees the reality. Like many others you see the rise in ANTI SEMITISM and NEO NAZISM around the world hidden behind the façade of neo Marxism. The true National Socialists don't want pogroms and ghettos but peaceful existence for mutual benefit. We can see the problems associated with islam that is starting to raise its ugly head all around the world, and how they are prepared to sacrifice their children to get what they want. The arab spring is just the start of the mass murders and genocides planned by the Saudi's to take control of everything, they know their oil is fast running out and need a new source of power. We need to act fast and pull out of the conflicts before we are dragged down by the sheer scale of them. Let the muslims sort out their own problems, and be prepared to step in and sell them our expertise and infrastructure at a price that is beneficial to us and our allies. If this means a complete about turn on Palestine and the removal of the Palestinians then so be it, we need to stabilise the M.E before it ends in thermo nuclear war.

If there's an AXIS on the horizon today, rosie, I would nominate the US, NATO, and Israel as they seem to be the ones committed to regime change in seven Muslim nations including Libya, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, and Iran.

Many Jews were victims of the 1930s; however, a few Jews with names like Warburg and Rothschild were certainly anxious for a war very few found time to bleed in.

Do you understand it was foreign intervention in Palestine, starting in 1917, that has resulted in the current apartheid conditions between the River and the sea? Since the US has been the biggest supporter, since 1967, for Israel's occupation of Palestine, don't you think it's a little hypocritical to cut and run at this time?

No I do not understand that it was foreign intervention in Palestine that resulted
in the filth of apartheid thruout the islamic world------in 1917 In fact it started in the
6th century AD ---prior to that ------around 300 AD filthy pig constantine introduce
an extreme form of apartheid that was emulated by the mecca rapist ----and that filth
was spread around by his followers -------do you have any grasp on the real history
of the region at all?

Hezbullah fears Lebanon's Future/March 14 want to be under Israeli protection instead of hezbullah/syrian hegemony. Even for Saudi businessmen the prospects are greater befriending Israel than staying in a state of war with them, especially with the oil and gas fields off the coast.
Any crisis Lebanon might be in is of syria's and hezbullah's making. Lebanon has pulled itself from the ashes. Beirut was voted on the best cities in the world but tourism is still extremely low and the value of the Lira is 1500 to the dollar, it used to be 3 to the dollar in years gone by. Now hezbullah and syria threaten to pull it back down?
Sunni's in Lebanon have no love of Al Qaida either, but then they are falling out of favor with most of the middle east states.
Tunisia has rejected an Islamic law. Egypt is restricting the entry of muslims from outside even passing through. Islamism might have been an idealistic dream but in the modern world it is not practical. The two major sect can't even find peace, how do they expect to set the example for the world with all it's plurality? Even muslims in asia are laying down their weapons, small steps through it might be.

It started a long time before that I am afraid as it was the child rapist of islam that started the foreign intervention in Palestine when he wrote that islam will destroy the jews. The muslims have overplayed their hand too many times and will fail once again, only this time they wont bounce back as their holiest place will be a smoking ruin turned to volcanic glass by the nuclear weapon hidden there. The west could take out Syria tomorrow at the push of a button, just as it could take out Saudi, iran, Egypt and Pakistan. Don't you think that you are being just a little bit too much obvious in your NAZI ANTI SEMITIC RACIST JEW HATRED on here by denying the jews and Israel their right to self determination and demanding the destruction of Israel.

Yes we all know the story.
There was teeming, democratic, paradise, 'Palestine'... and along came these Euro-Jews in 1917 (and again in 1948) and overran their Parliament building/hut and exiled them!

Of course, the Palestinkian/Arab/whatever population grew in Every Decade from 1880 forward and grew Twice as fast in the areas of Jewish settlement.
Only in 1948 did their population go down, and only then in the land that became Israel, and Only Because They/Arabs Rejected a State and started a war.
Jews accepted the partition in an area with a Jewish Majority.
Palestinkians rejected a state where they would have been a near 100% majority.
70%-'palestinian'-Jordan (annexed) and Egypt (Ruled) 'their' land from 1948 until 1967 until they lost it.

Before the British beat the Ottomans, p-p-p-alestine was 3 Sanjaks/provinces ruled by Ottomans and their governors for 400 years.
Before that the Mamluks ruled the area.. and so on and so forth.
There was never a self-governing land or people there since it was last called ISRAEL.

Enough to realize Constantine and Muhammad had less to do with today's violence in Palestine than Lord Rothschild in 1917. Are you saying the Jews and Arabs who were living between the River and the sea 100 years ago were at each others' throats as much as they are today?

I certainly hope Lebanon doesn't get dragged into this mess. Its a lovely country.. and I'd love to see it again.

Lebanon is already in this mess. Deep in the Syrian mud. every day you hear of Hezbollah and Al-Quaeda bombing one another, killing many Lebanese civilians in the process.

And it's not going to be stopped any-time soon.

There wasn't any Hezbollah until the mid 1980s.. The Saudis have HUGE investments in Lebanon, but certainly wouldn't TAKE their offshore oil and gas.

Will Lebanon Disappear in 2014?

My prediction is that Israel, Palestine, and Lebanon will ally themselves in the next two years.

Exactly right. Lebanon has enough meddlers in terms of Syria, Iran and now salafist linked Al Qaeda groups next door. While not seen yet, an opportunistic Turkish interest in Middle Eastern affairs would put some more question marks over the stability of the region. It is important to remember that historically when islamist powers have arisen in the Middle East they have been either by Turkish or Persian. This was true even of the years of Arab rule at the height of the Abbasid Caliphate, when the Caliph’s Turkish army mostly controlled the empire. For many reasons, Arabs have proven mostly incapable of competent administration.

That means we might expect serious confrontations between Ankara and Tehran in the near future. Erdogan’s nominal support of Iran’s nuclear program is more of a slap at the United States than a true belief that Iranian nuclear weapons are in Turkey’s best interest. When Iran does succeed in obtaining the bomb, I would expect the comparatively wealthier Turkey to follow suit shortly thereafter, leaving the hapless Arab states to align with one or the other in a regional ideological duel that will probably echo a good deal of the politics of the Cold War. I don’t know what Israel’s role in such a conflict would be, but it would probably just as soon have the Islamic states taking potshots at each other instead of launching “peace flotillas” every other week

History says they were, or more precisely it says that the muslim hordes were constantly raping their children, beating the men and murdering those who looked wrong.

"Palestinkian"???
Are they cousins to the Kikes?
Can't we all just get along here while freely admitting the running dogs of Zion never had the slightest intention of creating a democratic state in Palestine, preferring a permanent settler-colonial project of violent demographic engineering regardless of the wishes of a majority of Palestinkians?

Why are you confused about who is responsible for this mess when Wesley Clark answered that question in 2003?

"In Clark's book, Winning Modern Wars, published in 2003, he describes his conversation with a military officer in the Pentagon shortly after 9/11 regarding a plan to attack seven Middle Eastern countries in five years: 'As I went back through the Pentagon in November 2001, one of the senior military staff officers had time for a chat. Yes, we were still on track for going against Iraq, he said. But there was more.

"'This was being discussed as part of a five-year campaign plan, he said, and there were a total of seven countries, beginning with Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia,Sudan and finishing off Iran.'"

Regime change has already come to Iraq and Libya.
Syria and Lebanon are next.
The US and NATO and Israel are redrawing the hundred-year old borders of the Middle East to accommodate 21st century capitalism.
Millions more Muslims will be maimed, murdered, and displaced in order to accomplish the current Masters of Mankind Vile Maxim: all for ourselves and nothing for others.
