Sounds like a good match, to help balance out other new states like Puerto Rico.

We should merge the Carolinas and the Dakotas to make room for PR and DC. That way the flag will remain the same with 50. Alberta can goat rope elsewhere.

D.C. will never become a State because of the fact the U.S. Capital can not be within a State...

DC is constitutionally prohibited from becoming a state, at least as long as the capital is there.

Puerto Rico is inappropriate as a state because few there speak English. The debate last night was totally greek to those who aren't conversant. Further, Puerto Rico is extremely poor and destitute. It would be like giving statehood to Detroit.

No, break up California.

San Fran and LA hold the entire state hostage.

DC constitutially includes the City of Arlington from Virginia as well as the Pentagon, the headquarters of the U.S. military technically being part of the Capitol or seat of government.

Funny - I was in Calgary for a couple of weeks last year and heard all about this. "Calgary is the Texas of CA" was exactly the phrase I heard. Also "and BC is our California."

Actually, it's the other way around.

As this nation splinters in the coming decades, some of the states bordering on Canada will ask to become part of Canada!

Not a chance.

When PR and DC come in, we are splitting Utah and Wyoming in half.

We should let CA/OR/WA go out on their own. That would be a lot of liberals in heaven.

Canada hates the USA

I'm good with it. And the "French only" province of Quebec seceding from Canada, that would end a lot of their cultural headaches as well. And they might end that bilingual curse that's haunting 75% of Canadian politics. Ending that forced bilingualism as mandatory for politicians. 75% of Canadians cant even speak French. And Justin Trudeau might never have been made PM.

I’d almost like to see DC become a state. It has no tax base, it’s only industry is the Federal Government that it can’t tax, so its couple of hundred thousand citizens would have to pay sky high taxes to afford all the services they currently get for free from congress. Within a couple of years they’d be begging to renounce their statehood, or they’d all move into Maryland or Virginia.

They might invade Baltimore.

Would you? Alberta is an embarrassment to the rest of the country.
