“And ideological thinking is now much more closely aligned with partisanship than in the past,” the authors of the study wrote. ... "Now comes a new book, 'Why Washington Won’t Work: Polarization, Political Trust and the Governing Crisis', with a very different take: The reason Republicans and Democrats fight so vehemently is not because of ideological differences, but because they simply don’t like each other." ... “When you disagree with the other side on the issues, you can often find a middle ground. When you don’t like the other side, you don’t even talk to them." . The Real Reason Republicans and Democrats Can’t All Just Get Along

we're comparing disagreement vs dislike,,,,,,,,,you I dislike

Dumb thread. Someone needs some history lessons and see how opposite sides got along. Then there's that little skirmish called the Civil War.

I don't want them to get along... that's why we vote in opposition. That's why I can't stand Boehner & McConnell & Graham.

Anyway getting along with Democrats = bend over and grab your ankles because here it comes hard and deep... no lube, no foreplay.

Excuse me ladies.

perhaps people like me are the problem ,,I don't like republicans or what they stand for They can never be trusted

"Getting along" with Democrats means voting for their bills in return for a few token amendments, if any. The widening gulf between them and Republicans is due to their radical shift to leftist/socialist ideology. By comparison, Republican principles have remained relatively constant.

woodie lets use bringing back corp overseas money to america for example on a stand alone bill it'd pass but pubs want to include dropping taxes on billionaires,,,,, they use blackmail to get what they want like they did with our debt

It's a shame that your Government can't return to how it operated pre-Civil War, wouldn't it be nice if your Government were operated like that in the times of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Andrew Jackson?

OK, name the bill and the specific provisions (i.e., tax rate).

It's easy to second guess from here but I think the south should have been allowed to succeed instead of having the brutal war. The south had agriculture and not much in machinery, the north had industry and needed the produce, So they needed each other and I think would have reunited with technological advancements.
