Indonesia: Thousands rally against blasphemy in Jakarta

The "rally" becomes riot by the way.

We finally got a clean governor in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital. Under democracy, Ahok, is expected to win easily.

For first time in history, without even spending most of the budget things get done. Roads that used to take 6 months to pave, now take only 1 month. Floods are gone. Most Jakarta like him.

But a few political elite obviously hate him. They don't make money anymore. They used to get kick back. Now they can't.

So what do they do?

Ahok casually tell people that they can pick anyone they want. He said that some people may have been lied to by using quranic verse.

Somebody upload his speech and removes the word "using". Now you see what happens?

Every body knows that it's not normal "peaceful" demonstration. They plan for a coup on the start.

Now most in the west would think that the "muslims" are extremely sensitive. Well, some are.

The thing is, most of the muslims know that Ahok is innocent. Most of them know that this is just their move to prevent Ahok from going to the ballot. His Poll remains strong.

What happens is obvious.

It's not really the muslims that's sensitive about their religion. It's that islam is so intertwined with politics and politics are so intertwined with corruption.

Without religion, politicians need to offer something "real". Less corruption, more roads, more infrastructure, lower tax, or something. And they need to proof it if they want to win election.

When they obviously can't do that, they uses religions.

Obviously, even "moderate" muslims are still extremist by western standard. Even if Ahok did say quran is lying, it should be discussed openly through academic interests.
