The chassis alone In a NHRA certified 1/4 mile competition vehicle can cost six figures. In this world of mind numbing rapid acceleration few spectators pay heed to the almost invisible "roll cage" in these full bodied competition vehicles, but the driver & crew sure pay heed to the all critical roll cage! The roll cage does not just create a protective cage for the driver in case of a mishap but also adds strength to the rolling chassis by adding a 3rd dimension(height) to reinforce the two dimensional(width/length) chassis below the roll cage. Actually the roll cage is part of the chassis! Below are a couple of vids that well illustrate roll cages in action!

Terry Walters & David Vizard are currently a paired duo with both engine dynamics knowledge & machining skills just spilling over. You can catch David Vizard on YouTube if you want to pick up pointers in regards to creating h/p & torque.

Below is ONE of TWO of the worst case scenarios that can happen to a driver on the 1/4 mile, it's called being T-Boned. That unified roll cage/chassis is all a driver has between him/her & checking out of this world in case of a mishap!
