Why not make a joke a reality?

You've all seen the joke map, where the red states are called "dumbfuckistan" and the blue states, along with Canada, are called "the united states of Canada.

I think it would be less a joke, and more a good thing, if the progressive states of the United States of America became one national identity with the progressive country of Canada.

And no, I don't speak of annexing the states being Annexed by Canada, or any such nonsense. I talk about a fair and even collabortive nation. That takes the best of the United States, and combines it with a nation that already holds and believes what progressive Americans are striving to acheive in their country. It could be called whatever you wish. United states of North America. Dominion of North America. Whatever. We are all North American.

Then the dumb, regressive, bigotted states could have their playland, and Glenn Beck could be their Vice President, Bill O'Reilly their president.

If you really think about it on an idealogical level, it make a great deal of sense.

The one caveat would be that we'd have to put up electric fences around dumbfuckistan. But if we wait, they'll probably do that for us.

I don't think only Democrats have successful ideas. For instance, Bush had the idea to kill a bunch of people in the middle east, and he was VERY successful at that.

I'm sure that this isn't a scenario that sits well with people who WOULD be citizens of dumbfuckistan. I'm curious about what people who are more progressive would think on the mattter.

I am not in line with Republican ideals, no. Does that mean I'm a democrat? Think carefully before you answer.

And do you not think that there are nations with Free trade ideals, that also take social responsiblity for their people? You assume that "socialism" iis the same as communism, and that social concience and capitalism cannot coexist?

Canada has it's own debt... albeit not as crushing as the US national debt at this time. I suppose that would be something that would have to be taken in to account, wouldn't it?

It would be awfully irresponsible for the sane, responsible people to leave such things in the hands of morons, wouldn't it?

no but hong kongs succes is due to low tax rates. the subway system in hong kong is completly privatized and it is rediculous how clean they take care of it. my ideas are mostly libertartian, and i belive in privatizing everything, IE paying a toll for the roads you used instead of paying a tax on gasoline, and you cannot say there are no differences between communism and socialism.
