On October 24, 2013, the Kellogg Foundation sent out a press release about a report they had done entitled, “The Business Case for Racial Equity”. The study found that black men had the largest "uncontrolled pay gap" relative to white men, when comparing the average earnings of black men and white men in the U.S.

On average, black men earned 87 cents for every dollar a white man earned. Hispanic workers had the next largest gap, earning 91 cents for every dollar earned by white men.


To put that in perspective, the median salary of a white man in our sample is $72,900; the controlled median pay for black or African-American men is thus $71,500," Gruver said. "This suggests a $1,400 difference in pay that is likely attributable to race."

So daddy lives at home and the family still makes less than whites. Because:

NWLC calculations, based on the U.S. Census Bureau's Current Population Survey for 2016, revealed that when comparing all men and women who work full time, year-round in the U.S., women were paid just 80 cents for every dollar paid to their male counterparts. But the wage gap was even larger when looking specifically at black women who work full time, year-round—they were paid only 63 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men.


So a white working couple will make 90 cents on every dollar while a black working couple makes 75 cents. To allow you to understand this reality a white female worker makes 80 cents on every dollar a white man makes. White females are demanding equal pay and rightfully so.

And you black folk really need to start taking education seriously.

Honestly? That is A LOT of information to take in. . . and I know IM2 posts with a biased agenda on a vengeance. . . so yeah, I get Pete's comment.

What I have a really, really hard time figuring out. . . is how they get those statistics. I don't have any friends or relatives that are going to give out that data. . . and most black folks I know would tell social scientists to fuck off if they were asked how much they earn. . .

So I find this whole discussion kind of. . . well, interesting, if not a little silly.

No that's not acting white and you really don't get street cred for spending a lot of time in jail. But given that whites bully and beat uop nerds and have made movies/heroes about white gangsters, you really don't have anything to criticize.

Between 40 and 50 percent of the jobs in this nation are small business. The percentage is even higher in minority communities.

That was one of the successes of the Trump era, he cut regulations and taxes on small businesses, which disproportionately benefited both minority and fly over states.

. . . now, naturally the titans on Wall Street, and global corporations didn't particularly like this competition.

. . and the pandemic has hit this sector of the economy particularly hard, as the new administration has repealed a lot of these cuts in small business regs., it causes a loss in many small communities' abilities to create jobs. . . for both minority communities and small towns.

To put that in perspective, the median salary of a white man in our sample is $72,900; the controlled median pay for black or African-American men is thus $71,500," Gruver said. "This suggests a $1,400 difference in pay that is likely attributable to race."

So let's look at people with a bachelor's degree. They are not all equal. How many white college grads have degrees in "Ethnic Studies" (or similar nonsense)? Communications? Sociology? How many white grads have degrees from historically Black colleges and universities? Very few.

These degrees are worthless, and a large percentage of Black college grads have these worthless degrees, which are only salable in the public sector and social work NGO's - which generally don't pay very well.

The wage gap for Black college grads is not race-driven; it is driven by the quality of the majors of graduates. NWLC calculations, based on the U.S. Census Bureau's Current Population Survey for 2016, revealed that when comparing all men and women who work full time, year-round in the U.S., women were paid just 80 cents for every dollar paid to their male counterparts. But the wage gap was even larger when looking specifically at black women who work full time, year-round—they were paid only 63 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men.


So a white working couple will make 90 cents on every dollar while a black working couple makes 75 cents. To allow you to understand this reality a white female worker makes 80 cents on every dollar a white man makes. White females are demanding equal pay and rightfully so.

Sam Clemens had a famous saying that is apropos: "There are lies, damned lied, and statistics."

Let's take one example from the above assertions for illustration: "In fact, since 1979, the gaps between black and white workers have grown the most among workers with a bachelor’s degree or higher—the most educated workers."

So let's look at people with a bachelor's degree. They are not all equal. How many white college grads have degrees in "Ethnic Studies" (or similar nonsense)? Communications? Sociology? How many white grads have degrees from historically Black colleges and universities? Very few.

These degrees are worthless, and a large percentage of Black college grads have these worthless degrees, which are only salable in the public sector and social work NGO's - which generally don't pay very well.

And look at the date in the bolded assertion above: 1979. That is about the time when colleges, fearful of being branded "racist," started admitting substandard Blacks, and offering these worthless majors so they didn't all fail out.

The wage gap for Black college grads is not race-driven; it is driven by the quality of the majors of graduates. Blacks are almost non-existent in Engineering and the STEM subjects, which is why those very majors are being watered down RIGHT NOW, so that Blacks can arguably graduate with those degrees.

So what appears to be a stunning example of racial discrimination is nothing more than employers discriminating on the basis of the apparent value of prospective employees. Which is as it should be.

And the same points can be made on every other shocking assertion above. Racial discrimination in employment still exists to a very small extent, but given the number of potential employers in this country, there is no reason why ANY BLACK PERSON should have their career impaired by racism.

Dominique, a Black electrical engineering doctoral student, found herself in an awkward situation in the lounge of a hotel where she had been attending a conference on science.

A white man at her table assumed a nearby Black woman was on the hotel cleaning staff, so he asked her to clean their table. The woman did as she was asked, but in the process she informed him that not only was she a scientist attending the same conference as he, but she was also the keynote speaker.

Rather than apologize for his erroneous assumption, the man cracked a joke.

“But she cleans so good,” the man told everyone at the table. “Can we say: ‘Dual career opportunity?’” – as if an accomplished scientist would need an “opportunity” to clean tables.

All of the white folks at the table stared at Dominique (not her real name), seemingly waiting on her approval of the wisecrack. Caught off guard, Dominique faked a laugh. Her white table mates broke out in laughter, too, but it didn’t seem fake – it sounded hearty and real.

This incident is by no means unique. It represents just one of about 300 such stories that I’ve collected over the past decade or so as a researcher of structural racism in STEM fields: science, technology, engineering and math.

Through my research, I’ve come to see that – for Black and Hispanic STEM students – these instances of being stereotyped are quite common. Consequently, these students experience a sort of racial fatigue.

No, you are a lot dumber than me.
Cheating on entrance exams is not a racial issue. As we saw in the news, the wealthy parents were responsible for some of it. I suppose now you will say only whites cheat. For someone who thinks he is smarter than everyone else, your posts prove you aren’t. Having Sociology degrees just show you couldn’t succeed in getting a real useful degree.
