At 4 AM, in this day and time, you make sure who you are opening your door for before laying down your weapon. Then, be ready for very bad news, as most of us will never have the police knock on our door in the middle of the night.If it's a break-in, they are not going to loudly bang on your door at 4 AM. Common sense would tell me it's not a good idea to walk outside with a gun when the person banging on my door is likely a cop.
The problem is what happened to Breona Taylor, when cops just break down your door and you have a gun. You don't even need to shoot it, just raise it and you're likely dead.
A shotgun is a very good home defense weapon. A high powered rifle or handgun can fire rounds through your walls and through your neighbors walls. A shotgun won't do that.

I doubt I would try to piss them off by that, rather than just looking out. Besides, just because they send you a picture of officer friendly, doesn't mean they are officer friendly.You know...with cell phones, you can tell anyone on the other side to take a photo and send it to your phone...no need to open the door at all, really....

You hear a commotion outside your door and it sure sounds like somebody is trying to break in. Seems the rage among law enforcement is no knock warrants and early morning raids. If you open your door with a gun in your hand, they feel they are more than justified to gun you down. It's already happened in parts of the country. Almost happened to this guy but he checked his cameras first...thank God....Early morning visit by sheriff's deputies raises questions
