What should bother you is that Hollywood hasn't kicked out too many good movies and the shit they give awards for is often repetitive. It has a tendency to glamorize mediocrity and shun creativity.

How many times do you walk into a movie and already know the ending? It's repetitive formulas that are often decided, not by the directors, but by the money behind it making changes. You can't award what you don't have.
The only way for the rest of us to have any impact on those awards or on this industry is to stop going to the movies when we already know what it is. Good luck with that.

I think Common and John Legend should take the Oscar this year for Glory.
