Trump has vetoed 5 bills since being in office and 4 of them have been in favor of Saudi Arabian interests, despite the atrocities happening as we speak in Yemen.

Personally, I think Bolton and Pompeo have a hand in this, using the president as a scapegoat..

If congress can pass bills to stop atrocities, none would have occured since its inception. Good luck with that.

Ummmmmmm maybe its due to the fact that SA is helping us keep Iranian thugs in check.....you know the same thugs that would love to slit your throat from ear to ear....

Jihadists have more in common with the Ayatollahs in Iran than the king of Saudi Arabia....you do realize that right?...you must know that...:45:
Is that why we armed a maniac like Saddam with fucking anthrax weapons ?
( you know the "wmds" that they "never" found )

How far do you want to go back?...Ice Age?....things are ever changing except liberal stagnant brains I guess...

Congress responds when they get flooded with calls, tweets and emails from home.
Yes, you get a letter or an email saying "Thank you for contacting us and we will give your concern the due attention it merits."

DONATE NOW.

There is a fine line between donor money and popular opinion....usually Big Money wins.

⁜→ Angelo, et al,

I'm not sure that anyone, outside the system insider core, can explain the motivations behind the White House in this regard.

The regional contest is difficult enough to understand, but America is not the only country to support the forces loyal to → and attempting to restore → President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi's government. Saudi Arabia and a half dozen (or so) other Sunni lead states are attempting to overcome Shi'ite Houthi Rebels of the Supreme Political Council. The Saudi lead coalition is supported by the US, UK, and France; who supply logistical and intelligence support.

(REMINDER)

Sunni Government: Arab Saudi and other regional allies; and then the US, UK, and France.

Shi'ite Rebels: Supported by Iran-aligned Houthi rebel forces with very limited support from North Korea and the Arab Palestinians of Hezbollah.

From a political perspective, IF you support the Legislation you listed in Posting #17 (supra), THEN you are giving an advantage to the pro-Shi'ite element (ie Iran) of the conflict.

(COMMENT)

This is a civil war being waged under the non-Western Political Rules of Engagement. But the typical anti-War activist is, as usual, making arguments that are similar to those key components of the West.

◈ UN Charter Article 2(5)
◈ UN Charter Article 51
◈ Rome Statutes
  • Article 6 • Genocide
  • Article 7 • Crimes against humanity
  • Article 8 • War crimes
  • Article 8 bis • Crime of aggression
Amazingly enough, the anti-West activists use almost identical argument for other disputes in the Middle East - Persian Gulf Region; and now the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Because he and his family have business interests in Saudi Arabia, now and in the future.

Don't try to look too deep into the deadbeat president's behavior. He is as shallow and empty as they come.

Trump's actions have benefited US interests. While one may regret the casualties of war, Iran encouraged the Houthis to break the truce they had signed with the government and the Saudis are seeking to block the expansion of the Iranian empire. Congress has been acting irresponsibly without considering the bigger picture. This is the legacy of Obama's government of political gestures instead of policies.
