Why does the ghetto exist?

The Ghetto exists because a lot of people like living there. Its sort of a crappy area for kids, sure. But a lot of adults like the way people with loose ethics like pimps, hoes and drug dealers are welcome and the cost of living is less than in other areas. Ghettos often have easy parking (probably not in NYC, but absolutely in the urban prairie ghettos in the Midwest) And they are often convenient to inner cities and seedy joints that people like to frequent. Lastly , the cost of living can be bargain basement. A home in the Detroit or East St. Louis ghetto is a cheap way to live.

Ghetto is often a neighborhood in a city where a minority lives. The word has several meanings.. to include a Jewish neighborhood.

Thanks for the lesson in etymology.

Using the word is a sentence "The world is a ghetto"

Long story short, kids are the responsibility of their parents.

Which is a history of US politics in a nutshell. Politicians taking the money, and then blaming everyone else for their unwillingness to do anything.

Originally the Jewish Ghetto was where steel workers imported from the Mideast were housed to protect them in Venice.
Steel workers mostly produced weapons, so this was also a means of preventing rebels from getting arms.
As they moved up as Viziers, administrators, tax collectors, etc., the gated communities became elite places to live.
It was only after the monarchies were defeated, that these Jewish communities started to run down.

The original "Ghetto" was a walled in area where Jews would be shot if they escaped. The Black "ghetto" is an excuse for social unrest.

Nonsense.
For any group of people to never leave the area around their homes, they would need all their jobs to be in that neighborhood as well, and that never happened.
Ghettos were never sealed in to prevent people from leaving.
It is just that the entrances/exits were gated and checked.
Originally that was to keep the poor out, and to protect the wealthy Jewish government employees.
Only after the monarchies were defeated did the Ghettos become poor.

Yeah... all not true. At all.
My adopted sister has no disability of any kind, well except the willingness to work and make normal decisions.
All but one of her string of boyfriends and sperm donators had no disabilities.
Her disability is having 4 children with absolutely no means to support them.
She gets:
Reduced rent
Reduced utilities
Free EBT card for food
Free childcare essentials... diapers/clothing/food
Free healthcare for all 4 children
And got an extra $600 a month on top of this during Covid for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON AT ALL.

Add all of this stuff up, and it pretty much equals what one would make working a low end full time job.
So... they sit on their asses and get all of this rather than work everyday.

Eactly what I said, ADC, which is Aid to Dependent Children.
And regardless of your adopted sister's lack of work ethic, you don't want her children to grow up totally deprived, do you?

Endless point.
Meaning, as long as people know there is support for their laziness - they will continue to sit back and live off of other people's money.
Exactly why there is generational dependence on other peoples money.
We had good welfare reform in the 90s that stopped the runaway growth of those on welfare.
But then came Obama opening welfare up again and ever since the welfare roles have continued to skyrocket. And now after Biden ignoring the 100,000s coming across the border - it will grow even more.

In general, what I have seen is that immigrants don't or can't get welfare, but they do have to pay into it.

Yeah... no.
Ever hear of the phrase "road to citizenship"?
Only thing stopping these new 100,000s is Biden has had one disaster after another, so he doesn't have the political strength to push a fast track... besides they are more consumed with spending $2.5T on pet projects... which include $Billions for these people. Look it up.
Some of these folks will contribute, most will not. They will eat off the buffet just like welfare recipients do

Minimum is 2 years for citizenship.
But programs like DACA could take more like 15 or 20 years.

They are paying much more than they can get.

The general public sentiment is that undocumented immigrants who are working don’t pay taxes, even if they are not utilizing federal programs. This, however, is not true. Many illegal immigrants who work use fake Social Security Numbers in order to secure a job.
...
Because they are using this number, and money is automatically taken out of paychecks, they are paying taxes at both the state and federal level. In 2017, this amounted to $11.74 billion. They also pay more in taxes than native citizens. Where the top 1 percent of native citizens pay about 5.4 percent in taxes, undocumented immigrants pay an average of 8 percent.
